Chapter Four

Nevada's POV

Everyone was shocked, literally everyone when I was revealed as the CEO. I could hear loud gasps, murmurs and all. I was pleased at this reaction but most especially, the bewildered look on Grey and Bernadette's face, it was priceless.

"I know you're all shocked to hear that I'm the CEO, I was shocked to as well." I started off with a joke and they laughed, weakly though.

"Most people don't even know of my existence until now, some won't but now that it is unveiled, I'd like to say something." I continued and then went ahead to address them, thanking all of our investors and partners who were loyal over the years and then admonished them to work more harder with me so we can all achieve our aims and goals.

I delivered my well prepared speech and then offered a toast which signified the official opening of the event. By the time I was done, the place echoed with applause and the people were less tensed than usual.

"You did well ma'am." Fiona complimented me after I got off the stage.

"I know, I've been preparing for months." I joked.

We both laughed lightly and people began to introduce themselves to me, we spoke briefly on business, they congratulated me, some apologized for their rude remarks while some were too stunned to approach me. An hour later, I had spoken to half the population of those present and had to direct them to my manager if there was anything they needed to get across to me.

Grey and Bernadette approached me as well and I could tell that they were dying to be woken form what seems like a dream to them.

"Mr. Claremont, may I introduce myself all over again? I'm Nevada Lewiston, CEO of Lewiston Empire, your business associate. Thank you for partnering with us over the years and sticking firm as well, we hope to do more business with you in the future and invest more in your ventures." I uttered, rather professionally.

"How did you do this?" Bernadette asked, contemptuously.

"Berna." Grey warned, lowly.

"Let me be! I have to ask her, this is impossible, how can she be the owner of the largest company in the country, tell me, what did you do?" Bernadette asked, agitatedly.

"Stop it Bernadette." Grey cautioned, again.

"Just six years ago you were a nobody, with no name and promise of a future, you were a whore who got rejected by her mate, so how the hell did you manage to be a CEO!" Bernadette asked, angrily, with her voice slightly raised.

"Bernadette!" Grey cautioned, slightly raising his voice as well. I could see that even him was trying really hard not to freak out which Bernadette was doing a really bad job at. She scoffed and reluctantly backed down while I enjoyed the show.

"I'd appreciate if your fiancee, wife or whoever she is to do not accuse me of such debased things or be rude to my assistant in the nearest future, after all we're business partners. Have a lovely evening Mr. Claremont, I'll see you at the board meeting." I said dismissively and walked away.

I could feel their gaze bore through me but I walked with my head held high, I was proud of myself! Of the triumph and how I handled the situation, my dreams were coming true and unlike I had predicted that it would be messy, it was smooth and perfect.

"What next ma'am?" Fiona asked as she caught up with me.

I halted and turned to face her, catching a quick glance of the panicking Bernadette and a dazzled Grey trying to calm her down, I cackled.

"Now? We go home and celebrate then probably have some cake, I'm craving for a pie." I informed her, rather nonchalantly.

I walked out of the hall, having given all the necessary instructions to those who would take charge, we stopped by a bakery and got a pie, I smiled to myself satisfactorily as I ate the pie. My heart was still beating fast but I ignored it, phase one of my work was done, I got home freshened up, went over some documents then went to bed. I had a lot to do the next day.

By morning, Kelly and already made breakfast and was playing with Alicia when I went to the living room. Alicia hugged me and ranted about how her aunt Kelly had given her lots of candy and treats and then she proceeded to ask for new toys since we left the old ones behind in

"You'll spoil her Kelly." I complained.

"I'm her godmother, that's why in here." Kelly countered.

I shook my head and was caught between the both of them so I had no choice. I took out time in the evening so we could all go to the mall and shop, I also needed some supplies so it was a win-win.

"We should have shut down this entire mall, that way we won't have to brush shoulders with these sweaty people." Kelly complained barely fifteen minutes after we got to the mall.

"Don't be dramatic Kelly." I laughed.

She murmured and took Alicia to the toys department and shoved everything Alicia pointed to into the shopping cart and all my complaints fell on deaf ears. I got pressed and needed to urinate.

"Look after Alicia Kelly, I need to use the restroom, I'll be back before you know it." I informed Kelly.

"Don't buy anything stupid before I get back." I warned and headed for the restroom.

"I'm a godmother, not some money saver!" Kelly yelled after me.

I chuckled and went on to do my business, about four minutes later, I was done and went back to the section I left them, ready to scold Kelly for defying my orders but as I approached them, I heard an unmistakable voice which made my heart miss a beat. I arrived to see the figure of a man with his back turned at me.

"Whats your name?" He asked Alicia.

"What to do you think you're doing?" I hollered.

Alicia was about to speak but she saw me and ran towards me.

"Mommy!" She said, excitedly.

I carried her in my arms and the man slowly turned to face me.

"Hi Vada."

"Grey!" I hissed, my hands visibly shaking.
