Chapter 1: Let's Get Divorced

Emma's POV

"Emma, congratulations! You're pregnant!"

I stared at the shadowy image on the ultrasound, covering my mouth.

"Daisy, this is incredible! I'm actually pregnant..."

My husband Klaus is the alpha of Golden Moon Wolf Pack, and I, his luna, am a werewolf without a wolf.

For a year of marriage, I'd blamed myself for not conceiving.

Fearing that Klaus would be disappointed again, I decided to keep it a secret from him and went to the hospital to have a check-up.

"Oh, please, Emma, you deserve this."

Daisy hugged me. "We both know how hard you've worked to get pregnant."

I wiped away my tears forcefully and folded the ultrasound report into my pocket.

"Tonight, I'll share this wonderful news with Klaus. He'll be so happy."

Leaving the hospital, I returned to the house I shared with my husband.

I prepared his favorite black pepper steak and several delicate side dishes, opening a bottle of Romanée-Conti.

But the food grew cold, and Klaus still hadn't come home.

I sat at the dining table when my phone suddenly buzzed with an anonymous text and a photo.

The man in the photo was my husband, cutting a cake.

Yet he'd never celebrated a single birthday with me.

The text message appeared:

[Emma, your husband is celebrating my birthday with me.]

[He even gave me a watch worth five million dollars.]

[Emma, want to know who I am? You'll find out soon.]

My blood turned ice cold.

Since Klaus and I married, this woman had been sending me taunting messages.

Klaus didn't love me. Our marriage was arranged by his grandfather's orders.

On our wedding night, he didn't make love to me. Instead, he went drinking with this woman.

He never acknowledged me as his luna in public. The pack's people even thought he was single.

On my birthday, I'd waited hopefully for Klaus to celebrate with me, but he left abruptly after a phone call.

Then I received photos of this woman dancing with him at a bar.

In the dim lights, their bodies pressed together intimately.

But I'd never dared to confront Klaus about her identity... because of my insecurity, my weakness, my fear.

Klaus always despised me as a worthless wolf-less creature, completely unworthy of him.

I'd carefully maintained this marriage, terrified Klaus would abandon me.

But now things were different. I was pregnant.

I sat at the dining table until ten at night, clutching my phone tightly.

Suddenly, the door opened. Klaus walked in.

I forced a smile habitually and stood up. "Klaus, I have wonderful news..."

Suddenly, a strong smell of alcohol hit me.

Klaus was drunk, and mixed with the alcohol was a sickeningly sweet perfume scent.

A woman's perfume.

My words stuck in my throat. Before I could question him, Klaus picked me up and carried me toward the bedroom.

I instinctively protected my belly, but he pressed down heavily on top of me.

"Klaus, don't..."

But he was like an out-of-control beast, roughly biting my neck.

Throughout our year of marriage, Klaus had been cold to me in every way except when it came to sex, where he was abnormally passionate.

I tried to push him away. "Klaus, stop. I'm not in the right condition today..."

But my resistance meant nothing to him.

Soon, his fingers had already slipped inside my tight pussy.

"Don't move. Stay still, Emma!" Klaus's tone was commanding.

He was the alpha. I couldn't refuse any of his orders.

His fingers thrust in and out with increasing frequency. I couldn't help but spread my legs wider.

As I gasped heavily, my bare breasts began to shake and heave.

He gripped one breast firmly while biting down on the other nipple.

The mixture of pleasure and pain swept through my entire body.

My body gradually responded.

Klaus was pleased with my submission, letting out a satisfied growl as his movements became more urgent.

He grabbed one of my legs and lifted it high onto his shoulder, then aligned his already rock-hard cock with my entrance.

"Ah!!"

Pleasure flooded my entire body. I couldn't care how wanton I looked. Pleasure completely dominated me.

When it was all over, I lay blissfully in Klaus's solid embrace.

After ten minutes or so, his drunkenness seemed to fade, his breathing steady and strong.

I wanted to pull out the ultrasound report from under my pillow and tell him the good news about the pregnancy.

But Klaus's expression had returned to cold indifference.

He spoke, instantly shattering all my happiness and fantasies.

"Emma, let's get divorced."

My brain buzzed, my voice shaking. "Klaus, what... what are you saying?"

"Why would you divorce me? You must be joking. You're drunk, Klaus..."

"Emma, I'm completely sober now." Klaus cruelly shattered my illusions.

"It's because of Nancy. She has silver poisoning. The doctors say she has less than a year to live."

He lit a cigarette, narrowing his eyes. "Marrying me and becoming my luna before she dies is her only wish."

Nancy...

That name pierced my heart like a silver dagger.

I finally knew who the woman sending me messages was.

She was the princess of the New Moon pack, and the woman my husband was having an affair with.

Noticing my distraction, Klaus frowned.

"Emma, are you listening to me?"

I looked up at him pleadingly. "Klaus, do we have to divorce? She's sick, we can get the pack's best doctors to treat her..."

"Emma! She needs me!" Klaus cut me off.

"Do you know? If it weren't for you, she would already be my luna."

"She's incredibly kind and deeply in love with me. Because of our marriage, she didn't want to hurt you. This entire year, nothing inappropriate has happened between us."

"I want to make it up to her, but she keeps refusing me."

"Emma, don't make me think you're malicious!"

The disgust in his eyes cut me deeply.

So in his eyes, the woman involved with a married man was kind.

While I, unwilling to give up my husband, was malicious.

"But..." I lowered my head, touching my belly.

"Emma, you can't even get pregnant. How are you qualified to be my luna?" His attitude was ice cold.

Tears rolled down my face, my voice trembling.

"What if I am pregnant?"

He froze for a moment. "Emma, stop joking. You don't even have a wolf. How could you possibly carry my child?!"

I took a deep breath, preparing to show him the pregnancy report.

But the next second, as if remembering something, his expression turned vicious.

"Even if you really are pregnant, you'll have to abort the child, and then we'll divorce! I don't want Nancy to be upset."
