Chapter 2: "Emma, You're the Loser!"
Emma's POV
Klaus's words hit me like a sledgehammer.
I stared at him in shock, tasting blood in my throat.
"How can you do this to our child?!"
Klaus would kill my baby just to spare Nancy's feelings.
Seeing my anguish, Klaus's brow furrowed deeply.
For a moment, something flickered in his eyes, but then he scoffed.
"Because I know you can't possibly be pregnant with my child."
"You claim you're pregnant. Where's your proof?"
My heart was pounding in my chest. My hand touched the report under the pillow, but suddenly I lost my nerve.
I was terrified he'd force me to abort the baby.
Klaus didn't love me. How could he possibly want this child?
He'd probably think I was trying to trap him with a pregnancy.
I pulled my hand back.
That tiny movement didn't escape Klaus's notice.
"Emma?" His eyes narrowed dangerously. "What were you reaching for?"
I hid my hand behind my back, voice trembling. "Nothing..."
Klaus laughed coldly, his smile dripping with mockery.
"Emma, you'd even lie about being pregnant just to keep me? "
His gaze filled with contempt. "You really are a deceitful woman!"
"I'm not!" I practically screamed, tears streaming down my face.
"Klaus, Nancy isn't what you think! She..."
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand, fingers flying across the screen.
"Look for yourself!"
I shoved the phone at him, showing a year's worth of Nancy's messages.
Klaus took the phone, his expression darkening with each swipe.
Photo after photo, taunt after taunt, all laid bare before him.
"Klaus, do you see? Nancy sent all these messages. She's not the saint you think she is!"
I pleaded, my voice hoarse. "She's been harassing me, taunting me, she..."
"Enough!"
Klaus hurled the phone onto the bed, fury blazing in his eyes.
"Emma, Nancy's face isn't even visible in these photos! You expect me to believe she sent them?"
He stood, looking down at me from above.
"So this whole year we've been married, you've been having me followed."
"You fabricated these messages and photos to frame Nancy. Emma, you really are a vicious woman!"
I shook my head, drowning in helplessness.
"I didn't..."
Klaus took a deep breath, his tone softening slightly.
"Emma, stop fighting this. Agree to the divorce. Whatever you want, I'll compensate you."
He paused, contempt flashing in his eyes.
"After all, you only married me for money, didn't you?"
"Cars, houses, whatever you want. I can give it all to you."
His words struck like a slap across my face.
This is what he thought of me...
Suddenly, the door burst open.
Steven, Klaus's assistant, rushed in.
His voice was urgent and tense. "Alpha, Nancy's condition has deteriorated. She keeps calling your name. You need to go see her now!"
Klaus's expression transformed instantly. All his impatience became worry and concern.
In a year of marriage, I'd never seen him care about me like this.
He immediately started dressing.
"No!" I threw myself at him desperately, clutching his arm.
"Klaus, you can't leave! You're my husband. How can you go to another woman?"
"Let go!" Klaus growled, prying my fingers off forcefully.
I used my last bit of strength to hold onto him.
His voice filled with rage.
"Emma, do you know Nancy has silver poisoning because of me? I have to go! She needs me!"
I shook my head, tears flowing endlessly.
"Klaus, you can't do this to me... I'm your wife..."
"Wife?" Klaus laughed coldly, eyes full of mockery.
"You can't even get pregnant. How are you qualified to be my Luna?"
"Emma, don't forget we've always kept this marriage secret. I can revoke your Luna title anytime. The Council of Elders won't object."
His shout made me tremble all over.
I stared at him in terror, suddenly feeling pathetic and ridiculous.
For a year, I'd tried desperately to please him, serving him like a maid, enduring his violence in bed without dignity.
All of it was to conceive his child, to make him acknowledge me as his Luna.
But what about him?
He never publicly acknowledged me as his Luna.
Now that Klaus's grandfather has just passed away, he's so impatient to divorce me and find a new Luna.
Klaus shoved me away hard.
I lost my balance completely, my body slamming into the bedpost.
"Ah!"
Searing pain shot through my lower abdomen. I curled up, letting out a suppressed moan.
Klaus paused briefly, then looked at me coldly.
"Emma, stop pretending. You're fine!"
Then he walked out without looking back.
Bang!
The door slammed shut heavily. I was alone in the room.
I curled up on the cold carpet, cold sweat sliding from my forehead, soaking my hair.
Gradually, I began losing consciousness.
I don't know how long passed before my phone suddenly vibrated, jolting me awake.
That unknown number again.
Nancy again!
In the photo, Nancy wore a black lace nightgown that barely covered her body.
She was intimately nestled against Klaus, one hand on his bare chest, the other holding her phone for a selfie.
Her face wore a victor's smile, triumphant and taunting.
Where was the critically ill, dying woman?
And my husband Klaus lay beside her, bare-chested, asleep.
Then came her text.
[I'm the winner, Emma, you wolfless bitch!]
[You're the loser!]
Those words crashed through my mind repeatedly, shattering my sanity.
My throat suddenly constricted, my heart squeezed so tight I nearly passed out.
Suddenly, a sharper pain tore through my lower abdomen!
"Ugh!"
I groaned in agony, curling up tighter involuntarily, like an earthworm crushed underfoot.
A warm liquid suddenly gushed from between my legs.
I stiffly looked down.
On my white nightgown, a glaring red stain was rapidly spreading.
My blood.
"No... please no..."
My trembling hand reached for my lower abdomen, where my child with Klaus was growing.
"Help... help..."
