Chapter 4: "Your Baby Is Gone!"

Emma's POV

I opened my eyes, seeing a white ceiling and Daisy's worried face.

She was on the verge of tears.

"Emma! You're finally awake!"

Memories from last night flooded back.

The constant bleeding between my legs. The pain that nearly made me lose consciousness.

I reached for my phone, instinctively calling Klaus.

But he hung up on me.

Then I called Daisy.

I suddenly came to my senses and touched my abdomen, panic seizing my heart.

"Daisy, my baby... is he okay?"

Tears streamed down her face.

"The baby is fine for now, thank God!"

"But the ultrasound shows clear signs of threatened miscarriage. Emma, you almost lost this child!"

Her words cut through me like silver blades.

"Emma, what happened last night? You scared me to death!" She looked at me with concern.

"And where's Klaus? You hemorrhaged so badly. He's the Alpha, the baby's father. Where was he?"

I remembered Klaus abandoning me before I passed out, and the photos Nancy sent.

I couldn't hold back anymore and broke down crying.

"Daisy, Klaus... he wants to divorce me."

"What?!" Daisy exclaimed in shock.

I told her everything that happened.

"Nancy is a shameless bitch!" Daisy cursed furiously.

"And Klaus! Emma, you're carrying his child, yet he still wants to divorce you for another woman! Is he insane?!"

I opened my phone to dozens of missed calls and messages from Klaus.

Before I could check them, his call came through.

"Where did you run off to?!"

Klaus's furious voice boomed through the speaker.

"I came back to the manor and you were gone! Are you hiding from me to avoid the divorce?"

His Alpha authority radiated through the phone, making me instinctively tremble.

"And what about the blood on the carpet?!"

I gripped the phone tightly but ultimately chose to lie.

"I got my period. I wasn't feeling well, so I came to the hospital."

Klaus laughed coldly. "Nancy is sick, so now you've learned to fake illness for my sympathy? Emma, you're so calculating."

He saw all that blood yet still thought I was pretending.

My heart felt squeezed so tight I could barely breathe.

Then a sweet, cloying voice came through the phone.

"Klaus, since Emma isn't at Golden Moon Manor anymore, can I move in?"

My blood turned to ice.

"No!" I shouted. "Klaus, that's our home! You can't let her..."

"I'm sorry, Emma. I forgot you and Klaus aren't divorced yet."

Nancy's voice turned pitiful. "If you're unhappy, I don't have to move in. I'll just suffer alone until I die."

Klaus angrily accused me. "Emma, I told you Nancy is sick. Why are you so vicious?"

"And after a year of marriage, you couldn't even get pregnant. What right do you have to live in the manor?"

"We're signing divorce papers in a week. Until then, don't bother me!"

"Nancy," his voice turned warm, "pack your things. Move in tomorrow. I'll take good care of you."

The call ended abruptly.

I stared blankly at the black screen, my body going limp.

Golden Moon Manor. The home I'd carefully maintained for a year.

Tomorrow, Nancy would move in.

I murmured, despair filling my eyes. "What am I going to do? Daisy, I have nowhere left to go."

Before marrying Klaus, I was an adopted daughter of the Thorne family.

Ten years ago, I lost my memory and my wolf.

When I woke up, the Thornes adopted me, but my adoptive parents weren't kind to me.

Only after I married Klaus did they treat me somewhat better.

After marriage, I gave them almost all the money Klaus gave me, just to buy that cheap affection.

If they knew Klaus wanted to divorce me, they'd scold me mercilessly.

I couldn't return to Golden Moon Manor or the Thorne house.

What would I do?

Daisy hugged me tightly. "It's okay, Emma. You still have me! You can stay at my apartment!"

Tears rolled down my cheeks. "Daisy..."

I stayed in the hospital for two days.

After the baby's condition stabilized, Daisy helped me check out.

Daisy's apartment was small but cozy.

"Emma, just stay here and don't think about anything. Taking care of the baby is what matters most."

That night, Daisy and I shared a bed.

I lay with open eyes, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, my mind blank.

After what felt like forever, I finally drifted into a restless sleep.

In my dream, I held an ultrasound report, standing before Klaus.

"Klaus, look!"

I handed him the paper, hope in my voice. "I'm pregnant. It's your child."

Klaus's face showed no joy, only vicious disgust.

He laughed coldly, the sound terrifying.

"Emma, how could a waste like you possibly be pregnant with my child?"

His expression turned twisted and frightening.

The next second, he swung his hand violently, throwing me to the ground!

My head slammed against the floor. Stars exploded in my vision.

"Klaus..."

I struggled to get up, but a high heel stepped on my hand, grinding down hard.

Nancy.

She said viciously, "Emma, did you forget? You don't even have a wolf. How could you possibly carry an Alpha's child?"

"You must have gotten pregnant with some other man!"

"No!"

I shook my head desperately. "He's Klaus's child!"

"Shut up!" Klaus roared, roughly grabbing my wrist and yanking me up from the floor.

"Emma, you disgust me!"

"I'm taking you to the hospital right now to abort this child!"

I struggled frantically, trying to break free from his grip.

"Klaus, believe me! He's your child!"

In the chaotic struggle, my lower abdomen slammed hard into the sharp corner of a table!

"Ah!"

Pain blacked out my vision. My body slid limply down.

Nancy let out a delighted laugh.

"Perfect. Now we don't even need the hospital."

She looked excitedly at the blood on the floor. "Your child is gone!"

"No!"

I screamed awake, my entire body soaked in cold sweat.

"Emma, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Daisy woke up startled, checking me anxiously.

The lights chased away some of the darkness, but I was still trembling.

"I dreamed Klaus and Nancy... they wanted to kill my baby..."

Daisy held me, comforting me like a frightened child.

"It's okay, Emma. You just had a nightmare. None of it was real."

But that dream felt like a bloody prophecy, playing repeatedly in my mind.

No! I couldn't tell Klaus I was pregnant!

Otherwise that terrible dream would become reality.

He would kill my child, just like in the dream.

"Daisy, I've made up my mind."

I suddenly grabbed Daisy's hand.

"I'm divorcing him. After the divorce, I'm leaving the pack so he can never find me!"
