Chapter 3 Death To Mila!
Chapter 3
Mila POV
I need to see Alpha Jax…” I bellowed. “He can't just do this evil to me and hide behind the curtain!”
Intense booing from the crowd.
“I refused to be treated this way!”
Alpha David mockingly added, “This may be one of the reasons the gods had chosen your sister in place of you. We may not be seeing what the gods are seeing. You are arrogant and cocky. Despite the allegations against you, you are still talking when you are supposed to be on your knees begging. Probably the elders may have…
“I didn't do anything…” I quickly interrupted as I burst into tears. “I am innocent of these allegations.”
“Liar! Liars!! Liar!!!”
Those words echoed from the crowd.
“I hate liars!” I turned to see where the voice came from; it was an omega carrying a pup at the left arm of the palace ground.
“Don't cast her out, our elders; she may still find a way to sneak into the pack!”
She looked at me with a demeaning eye, and I quickly remembered her face. Yes, that face. She was the woman who came to our clinic with an almost dead pup with typhoid fever. No Food. No money. A widow. I had to take up her pup's medical bills.
Yes, a beam of hope. Within me. That is why it pays to be good.
Then the greatest shock of my life follows.
“Let's take her outside the pack and stone her to death!”
DEATH!
The word echoed in my ears.
Then the word DEATH TO MILA NOW!
Follows from the crowd. Everyone bangs their feet on the ground in unison.
“Noo…Noo…”
I quickly turned to look at the face of Alpha Vexhood.
“Please… just say no…” I muttered.
“Remember, your Luna used to come to our clinic, and I will give her free healthcare and free consultation. Free everything. Don't let them do this. I accepted my mistake. I gave up on Alpha Jax. Rosa is my blood. She can have him.”
He looked into my eyes for a moment and nodded his head pitifully.
Then he raised his hands in the air.
The crowd has it. Tomorrow night when the Passover is over. It would be done.
My breath, cut. Eardrum blocked. Vision blurred.
Noo…
“Please, Rosa, tell them I am innocent.” I bellowed, with thick saliva spitting from my mouth.
My body vibrated. My heart stopped.
Take her away, and don't let her feet touch any part of the palace ground.
Then from nowhere the three heavily built pack guards came out from the side of the podium with a long sack big enough to swallow me up.
Their heavy feet bounced on the palace ground as they approached me.
“Rosa, please help me!” I shouted to her from afar.
Rosa quickly turned her back, smiling.
Don't let them do this. You know I am your loving sister, Rosa, please… Remember how we used to…
I turned to Alpha Vexhood. Maybe he would change his mind for the last time. “Please don't let them take me away from Alpha Vexhood. You know, I have been very kind to your family. Ok, I am sorry for being too sharp-mouthed. I promise too…”
“We warned you when your mouth was sharp like a razor blade a few minutes back; we warned you, but you cared not to listen. The gods have spoken, and there is no turning back,” one elder countered.
The guards then seized me, and a syringe was plunged at the back of my head. I weakened. Then, darkness overwhelmed my vision.
Hours later.
I found myself in a dark room lying helplessly on the floor. The foul smell of urine and decaying excreta everywhere almost blocks my nostrils from functioning.
I looked around; I was surrounded with nothing but desolation. The cobwebs overhead, the rusted bedframe.
A faint ray of light found itself in the room. Clear pointer that this place is an abandoned prison facility for inmates.
Rats squeaking everywhere.
God! I am allergic to anything rat.
I stood up from the floor. My head was heavy, my body ached greatly, and I was still feeling dizziness from the injections.
My clothes, torn. My wig messed up. No help is coming. No one, Mila.
I drifted to the steel bar gate, banging it several times.
Is anyone here?” I cried out. My once vibrant voice denied me. Weak and almost lifeless.
I banged several times again.
Then a distant gate opened.
Thank the moon goddess; at last she heard my cry.
Heavy footsteps thickened to my side. Then a short and fat middle-aged woman shows up.
“You are awake.” She uttered, her voice thick and coarse like that of a man.
Is that the reason you are banging the gate and you are disturbing my peace?”
She hissed, eyeing him from head to toe.
“I am sorry, please, I need water.”
Is it for bathing or drinking?” She replied.
For drinking, please,” I replied.
The manner she replied made me a little angry, but who am I to fight with little strength in me and death staring me in the face?
“Ok, I will be back.”
She left, dragging her legs on the floor like a pregnant woman.
It took her a couple of minutes, and she was back.
She brought a big tumbler and a stainless cup along.
Why would she serve me such a decent tumbler and cup with how appalling the state of the cells is?
I ignored it. I needed water. My throat dried up.
Then I gulped it down quickly. I asked for another one. I gulped it again.
Then I said, “Thank…”
I didn't finish that word when my vision suddenly started to blur again.
I went down gradually into the ground, holding my throat like a knife had been held to it.
Regardless of how close she was to me, I could hear her voice seem distant, and she was watching me helplessly as I lowered
myself into the ground.
“You are most welcome, Luna Rat.”
I held my hand to my throat, firmly. Then, my eyes shut again.
