Chapter 3 Chapter three
Zarlia tried to forget everything that happened that morning but still, she kept having a nightmare and everything kept replaying in her head.
"Miss Zarlia, it's your turn to be interviewed please go into the office." The lady announcing the interviewees to be interviewed suddenly called when a blushing lady who had just been interviewed walked out of the interview room.
"Thank you." Zarlia appreciated.
She took in a deep breath to steel her nerves and began to make her way toward the office while praying that she was employed
She was about to open the door when she heard a feminine voice say from the room, "Sir, you're leaving. Don't you want to interview the next person?" The person asked.
It seems the person didn't reply to the assistant because Zarlia didn't hear anything. She knocked and opened the door when she heard, "Please, come in." From the lady in the room.
When Zarlia would enter, she saw a tall figure walking out of the room through a door in the office.
Zarlia felt that the back was familiar but she laughed it off and secretly smacked her head. How can she know who the person was leaving?
Stets Empire is one of the biggest Empire in the country, what connection does she have, to know?
"Please have your seat." A woman in her middle thirties said to Zarlia and she quickly sat down.
"So your name is Zarlia." The lady asked and Zarlia nodded her head calmly.
"Yes, I'm Zarlia."
The woman began to go through Zarlia's resume and after a few seconds, the woman shook her head with a frown. "Sorry, you're not the person we…"
Before the woman could finish her words, a ping sounded and the woman quickly picked up her phone.
After a few minutes, the woman looked at Zarlia. "Sorry, I mean you can be admitted into work." The woman said, which made Zarlia'sfast-beating heart skip a beat.
"I can resume work?" Zarlia's heart skipped a beat and she almost jump in joy.
She already knew that her resume wasn't that strong and when the woman said in confirmation earlier, Zarlia thought her guess was right only for everything to change in a few minutes.
"Yes. You can resume work tomorrow. Good luck, miss." The woman said which made Zarlia clench her fist in happiness.
"Yes!" Zarlia yelled happily the minute she was out of the company.
Zarlia quickly took out her phone in order to call Romero to tell him the news but she stopped when she remembered all that Romero did.
She finally got what she wanted but she had nobody to tell, maybe that's a good thing. Zarlia thought sadly.
Zarlia was about to return her phone to her bag when her phone suddenly began to ring. She picked up the call when she saw that it was from her fake parent.
"Zarlia, when are you going to send more money?" Her fake mother asked her with a harsh voice which made her clench her fist in anger and sadness.
"I just sent money two weeks ago," Zarlia replied while biting her lower lips, she was trying hard not to let her voice tremble or cry.
"So? Do you think we are living on nothing for those two weeks, if you don't send money by tomorrow, never come home or call us your family." Her fake mother threatened.
Zarlia had always been intimidated by this sentence but this time, she refused to let herself be threatened. "Disown me. I'm not your daughter anyway. I'm just a useless person just like my parents who died in a car accident." Zarlia breathed out which made her fake parents stunned.
"You…"
"From now on. I and your family will have nothing to do. I have been working a part-time job since the age of twelve and I've been the one providing and doing all the chores in that house so you can't tell me I have anything to pay your family when in fact you were the one who owed me." Zarlia yelled out.
"You can leave, you're just a useless orphan who's working in astupid part-time job and has a cheating boy as a boyfriend." Her fake parent said which made Zarlia stunned and before she knew it, the call was disconnected.
Zarlia was stunned for a few minutes but the tears that she was trying to suppress immediately streamed past her eyes. She bent at a corner and began to cry.
"It hurts. It hurts so much." Zarlia cried out with sadness and pain.
Stetson clenched his fist, his heart breaking repeatedly as he watched his mate cry silently.
Stetson had been the one doing the interview but when he saw that Zarlia was the next person, he had to run outside in fear that she'd refuse to work anymore when she saw the strange creature.
He knew Zarlia's resume wasn't in any way something he'd accept in Stets company but he needed to let Zarlia close so he sent a message to the director to let her in.
Unable to watch her cry anymore, Stetson hurried toward her and pulled her into his embrace. And he felt that tingling thing once more.
"It hurts." Zarlia cried out once more to the man who hugged her.
The man's scent was the most wonderful she had ever smelled and it gave her a sense of comfort and she found herself snuggling into his embrace but she felt something wrong when she felt that strange beautiful feeling when their skin touched. It reminded her of that… that!
Zarlia's eyes widened and she quickly pushed the man away from her and she was right, it was that… that. "You. What are you doing here? Are you stalking me? I'm warning you, you can't kill me." She yelled at him which made Stetson's heart fall.
"I'm not doing any of that. I was just passing by." Stetson uttered and took a step toward her but the minute he did so, she paled in fright
