Chapter 8 Caught!

Asha

The man looks at his wristwatch, and smirks, "A time bomb would be better," he grins.

My heart is pounding harder than a pestle. Beads of perspiration,  line up on my forehead as I watch him signal to his goons to go plant it as the front door.

"What should I do?" I whisper, my eyes rolling back into my sockets in helplessness.

"I can't come out of this place; he'll see me," I bite my nails, fidgeting.

"But I have to warm Auren somehow," my eyes keep looking around for the best means to get out of my hiding spot without that mean guy noticing me.

"Swing into action, guys. Once we finish him off, I would have my place back as the king of the underworld," his eyes widen unnaturally, his lips breaking out in an eerie grin.

"So he's the king of the underworld. No wonder so many people are after him," I hiss, still thinking of a way to get out my spot without the man noticing me.

My eyes finally land on a path that leads somewhere else. If I can pass this place, I might probably find a way to enter this place through some sort of back door.

'What if it doesn't have a backdoor?'

My heart drops to my stomach at the scary thought, but I immediately push it away from my head.

"Alright, swing into action," I take a step back as quietly as I can, while I keep my eyes on the man.

His goons run towards the building, carrying the bomb in their hands.

I shiver as I watch them plant the bomb there, helplessly.

There's no time to warn Auren about anything!

'Think of something else!' My head screams at me.

"I can't walk up to him. He'll kill me, at the same time, I can't run into the building to warn him, there's no time for that–"

A strong hand grabs me by the collar of my shirt.

I freeze in my place when I feel the grip on my shirt. My blood runs cold, the sweat lining on my forehead dries off instantly.

"Who are you?" The voice asks.

I slowly raise my head to meet one of the most evil eyes I have ever set my eyes on. Those fiery red eyes look back at me with so much contempt, I wish the ground would open up, and take me whole instead.

"Boss!" He calls out to the man in suit, "I found this little lady lurking around here," he just picks me up from the ground, and heads towards the other guy who's now scrutinizing my face.

"Auren has a girlfriend now?" He snorts, eyeing me in annoyance.

"I doubt so. He wouldn't be foolish enough to bring his woman along to a place like this," the guy grabbing me, replies.

"Let go of her, Valthor," the blonde waves his hand, a look of disapproval etched on his face.

He drops me to the ground, and I land face flat on the ground with a loud thud.

"Who are you, little pumpkin? What are you doing around here?" He grabs my chin, forcing me to look up at him.

His eyes make my bones shiver in fright. I open my mouth to speak, but nothing comes out of my mouth.

"Don't waste his time! Go on, say something!" Valthor roars.

I unintentionally squeak, my body shaking like a leaf, as I try to speak, but still nothing leaves my mouth.

"She's probably affiliated with Auren. I think it's best we end her," he says.

The blond shakes his head, his grin widening till it reaches his eyes.

"No. I have a better idea," His grip on my face loosens.

"Go get me a megaphone," he straightens himself, "We have some blackmailing to do."

"N-no, I'm not.. I'm not with him," I shake my head, hoping my attempt will at least save Auren.

"That's such a lame excuse," he cackles.

"What should we do with her, boss?" Valthor speaks up, grabbing my collar again.

"Watch what I do," He snatches the megaphone from his goon.

"Auren!" He booms, "I know you're in there, and I know you're probably trying to get to my goons, but unfortunately, that's not happening."

There's a sickening pause, before he continues, "I have your girlfriend with me. If you want her to live, you will surrender yourself, and I won't have to blow this place up."

"No please! Don't do anything to him!" I shriek in horror.

The blond sets down the megaphone at his side, "I doubt he's going to abandon you, but if he does," he turns to me with darkened eyes, "I will make you mine."

Bile forms at the back of throat at his words. My chest tightens with horror and disgust at what he might do to me if Auren doesn't come out from the building. I already escaped from one abuser; I can't run into another.

I try to wriggle free from Valthor's grip, but it's useless against his powerful grip that's holding onto my shirt for dear life.

"Why are you so mean? Can't you operate your part of the underworld and leave others alone? Don't be greedy," I snap at the blond.

He just flashes me a cold smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

"It would be best if you screwed that tiny mouth of yours shut. Don't get into more trouble, pumpkin."

Tch, fuck you bitch.

He brings the megaphone back to his lips, "Are you coming out or what? You're not ready to surrender?"

Knots entangle themselves with my intestines, making my stomach churn badly. Invisible needles prick at my dry throat, and my palms as well.

'This is looking bad. I don't like the direction it's heading to.'

The door to the building finally creaks open, and there he stands alone, with his hands up.

Auren.

"Let her go, Rhaegar. Don't bring an innocent Omega into our business," he grits his teeth.

"What a gentleman. You thought making your men escape before you came out was heroic?" Rhaegar snaps his fingers, and his goons pour out in their numbers, running towards the back of the building.

"Please sir, let us go. We promise not to trouble you again," I clasp my hands together, tears pricking the corner of my eyes.

He just ignores me, walking towards Auren.

"No! Stop!" I scream, but Valthor grabs my face, forcing my mouth shut.

I wriggle helplessly, watching Rhaegar head towards Auren.

"It is unlike you to bring a lady wherever you go. What a foolish thing to do," he grabs Auren, forcing him to his knees.

Auren curses under his breath, his eyes falling on mine. I silently tell him how sorry I am.

"Let her go. I already told you. You have me now, don't you?"

Rhaegar snaps, and Valthor finally lets go of me. I rush towards Auren, falling beside him.

"What a cute girlfriend you have here. It's better you both enjoy each other in the afterlife," he whips out a revolver, pointing it at me, "The world is too wicked, for keeping a pure thing like this around."

"Don't harm her, Rhaegar, I'm warning you!" He bellows.

"Tch, take them, and lock them up. I'll deal with them tomorrow," He turns on his heels, walking towards his car.

Two of his goons, grab us, forcing us back inside the building.

"You're done for, Auren. Tomorrow will be your last."
