Chapter 4 Bored

ANDY’S POINT OF VIEW

The lounge was quiet too quiet for a school that was supposed to be in session.

But then again, this wasn’t just any part of the school. This was our space. Hidden away at the far end of the senior wing, the private lounge was off-limits to most students. Soft leather couches, a low glass table, a mini fridge stocked with drinks, everything about it screamed comfort… and privilege.

Carl was stretched out on one couch, scrolling lazily through his phone, while Diego leaned back with his arms behind his head, looking like he didn’t have a single worry in the world.

I sat across from them, one leg resting over the other, barely paying attention to whatever Carl was laughing at.

“Bro,” Carl said, shaking his head, “you should’ve seen the way she was looking at you earlier.”

“They all look,” I said flatly and Diego let out a low chuckle.

“He’s not even wrong.” Carl sat up slightly.

“Nah, this one was different. I swear she was ready to propose.” He said and I smirked faintly, not impressed.

“Not interested.”

“Damn,” Diego said.

“Cold.”

“Just realistic,” I replied, shrugging. Carl grinned.

“Speaking of… where’s Vanessa?” At the mention of her name, I exhaled slowly.

“Don’t start.”

“Ohhh,” Diego leaned forward slightly, interest sparked.

“What happened now?” He said with a mischievous grin.

“She’s getting annoying.” Carl laughed immediately.

“Already?” They both chorused.

“I’m serious.”

“She doesn’t give me space anymore. Always calling, always texting… always watching.”

“That’s what happens when you date someone obsessed with you.” Carl said.

“I didn’t sign up for obsession,” I said.

“Told you it wouldn’t last.” He said and I leaned back into the couch.

“I’m ending it this week.” Neither of them looked surprised.

“Again?” Diego said, amused while Carl snorted.

“At this point, you should just start giving them expiration dates.”

“She’s doing too much,” I added.

“I can’t even talk to another girl without her acting like it’s a crime.” I rubbed my forehead.

“Possessive,” Diego said.

“Exhausting,” I corrected. Carl shook his head.

“You attract them like that.”

“Not my fault,” I said.

“They choose to act crazy.” I said and Diego raised an eyebrow.

“Or maybe you just don’t know how to pick normal girls.” He said.

“There’s no such thing like that… she’s hot and pretty, that’s why I asked her to date me.” That made them laugh.

For a moment, the room settled into a comfortable silence, broken only by the faint hum of the air conditioner. Carl picked up a drink from the table and took a sip before glancing at me again.

“So… who’s next?” He asked.

“I haven’t thought about it… I’m already exhausted from Vanessa's clinginess.”

“Liar,” Diego said instantly. Carl leaned back again.

“There’s that girl from yesterday. The one by the stairs… what's her name again… Flora?” He said and I frowned.

“Too desperate,” I said without hesitation.

“Fair.” Diego nodded and Carl snapped his fingers.

“Oh! What about…” He was saying when I cut him off.

“Not interested.” He stared at me for a second.

“You didn’t even let me say her name.”

“Doesn’t matter.” Diego laughed.

“He’s bored.” They whispered but I didn’t deny it. Everything felt the same lately… same faces, same attention, same conversations. Nothing new… nothing interesting.

Carl suddenly checked his phone again, his brows pulling together.

“Wait…” Diego glanced at him.

“What?” I asked.

“It’s already past three.” He said and I frowned slightly.

“So?” I said. Carl looked up.

“So… school’s basically over.” For a second, none of us moved. Yeah, we came here straight from the cafeteria.

“And?” Diego shrugged, making Carl grin.

“And we’ve been here the whole time.” A small smirk tugged at my lips.

“Not surprising.” Diego stood up first, stretching lazily.

“Guess we missed all the boring parts.” He said and Carl followed, grabbing his bag.

“Best decision of the day.” I pushed myself up from the couch, adjusting my jacket slightly.

“Let’s go.” We stepped out of the lounge together, the quiet hallway greeting us.
