Seeing Evelyn reveal his identity, James raised an eyebrow slightly, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

How did she know who he was?

As if reading James's unspoken question, Evelyn looked upset.

What did he mean? He didn't even remember her? When did her charm get so weak?

With the Asura Killer Legion backing him up, no one in the Thomas family dared say much. They just glared at Hayden warily, staying close without letting him out of their sight.

James glanced at them coolly, chuckling to himself inside. He wasn't so low as to use sneaky poison!

Killing someone from a thousand miles away was easy for James.

At the same time, Eugene thought it over, then spoke carefully, "Sir, could I handle the follow-up recovery work? Our medical team is pretty good. You can trust us."

James's smile turned odd. He narrowed his eyes and shot back, "Isn't that right? Or did you all never realize from the start that Hayden wasn't sick—he was poisoned?"

His words hit like a bombshell, stirring up huge waves on the spot!

Evelyn rushed forward, grabbed Eugene by the collar, stared at him sharply, and demanded, "What do you mean poisoned? Didn't the doctor say Grandpa's old injuries flared up?"

Suddenly, Eugene was under fire from everyone. Even Owen couldn't hold back and blamed him, "Dr. Bailey, the Thomas family has treated you well. How could you not tell poisoning from an old injury?"

Eugene backed away step by step, looking bitter, lips moving but no words coming out for a long time.

The air was thick with tension, burning with anxiety.

Finally, an old voice broke the silence, "Enough. Stop pushing Dr. Bailey. I told him not to say anything."

In an instant, everyone crowded around Hayden's bed. Evelyn choked up, "Grandpa, why? If someone hurt you, the Thomas family will get justice for you, even if it bankrupts us! Why did you lie to us?"

James shook his head slightly at the scene and sighed. Evelyn had clearly been sheltered too much.

In this tricky world, the only one Hayden would protect like this was...

Hayden gently stroked Evelyn's hair with his wrinkled hand, looking kind, "Evelyn, be good. Grandpa just wants the family to get along. It's okay if I suffer a little!"

Evelyn sobbed at Hayden's bedside, but Owen's face changed.

Evelyn was young and naive, but he got it clear as day!

There was a traitor in the family! Someone who poisoned Hayden!

Veins bulged on his forehead. Owen clenched his fists, on the edge of losing control.

He took a few deep breaths, walked up to James slowly, and bowed at a ninety-degree angle, "Mr. Smith! The Thomas family has embarrassed itself in front of you! Could you bring your medical team? We'll reward you heavily afterward!"

Suddenly, the Thomas family members who had been standing around like extras jumped up in outrage.

"Owen, what do you mean? How can we hand Father's life to an outsider?"

"Grandpa trusted you so much. You're a disgrace!"

Owen swept a cold gaze over the shouting crowd, his leader's aura full of pressure, "Who dares object? That's a challenge to me, the head of the Thomas family! Who gave you the guts?"

Challenging the family head meant getting kicked out and treated as an enemy!

Everyone shut up fast, no one daring to speak. They could only glare at James in anger.

Owen looked at James sincerely again, "Please, sir."

James didn't answer right away. He shrugged with a playful smile, acting casual, "You're bold! We don't even know each other. How do you dare trust me with Hayden?"

Owen pressed his lips together, eyes flickering, but he still bowed his head and said firmly, word by word, "Father trusts you, so I do too!"

He was betting on it!

Most importantly, someone who'd give the Nine Turns Soul Return Elixir to a stranger without meeting them—doubting him would be an insult to that pill.

James's deep eyes seemed to see through Owen's thoughts. He didn't say more and just laughed openly, "Fine! I like decisive people! Alright, I'll show you the Asura Killer Legion's medical team!"

He pulled out his phone and hit an emergency speed dial.

Less than a minute later, Thomas family security burst in, scrambling and out of breath, voices panicked, "Bad news! A woman with armed men is trying to break into the Thomas family! Our guys aren't a match for them!"

Why now? Was the traitor making a move?

Owen's pupils shrank. He was ready for a fight to the death, "Alert everyone in the Thomas family right now. Mobilize everyone we can! Also, call the police for backup! Anyone who helps, the Thomas family will reward big!"

They just had to hold out until Hayden was out of danger!

At the critical moment, James suddenly stopped them coldly, "Hold on! That's my people. They're the medical team I called to treat Hayden. Relax, they won't hurt you."

Owen's eyelid twitched. His eyes met James's.

He felt a surge of anger in his chest.

If they're your people, why not say so earlier? Why wait until after I gave the orders!

James was suspecting Owen was the traitor!

Owen's mouth twitched into an ugly smile, "If they're Mr. Smith's people, it's just a misunderstanding. Bring them in like honored guests!"

When he said "bring them in," his teeth nearly cracked.

Meanwhile, Evelyn's eyes gleamed with something different. She had her own thoughts.
