Chapter 5 Pregnant?!
The noisy chatter outside the boardroom died instantly.
Everyone straightened, forming two neat lines as the air grew taut with tension.
Even without seeing him, Cora could feel the power in his presence.
She turned, curious to see the man everyone seemed to fear—
—and the world tilted.
A rush of dizziness hit her, her vision went black, and the mountain of folders in her arms scattered across the marble floor as she fell forward.
The employees gasped in unison.
Every face turned pale.
Cora’s finished.
She’d just collapsed right in front of Mr. Watson.
No one survived that kind of mistake.
⸻
Julian was striding toward the meeting room when a blur of movement caught his eye—
a young woman, overloaded with folders, stumbling straight toward him.
Instinct told him to sidestep.
But the moment he saw her face, something in him froze.
Before he could think, he stepped forward and caught her.
Gasps rippled through the corridor.
People stopped breathing.
Mr. Watson actually touched her?
He never let women near him.
Every employee knew that.
Rumor said anyone who tried to flirt with him ended up jobless within a day.
Yet here he was—holding a low-level staffer in his arms.
Cora’s lashes fluttered. Her consciousness blurred.
Just before everything went dark, she caught a glimpse of his face—sharp, striking, too familiar.
That face… why does it look like the man from that night…?
Then everything faded.
⸻
Julian glanced down.
The woman in his arms had completely passed out.
The hallway was silent—everyone waiting for him to explode.
Instead, he adjusted his grip, lifted her effortlessly, and turned to his assistant.
“Send her to the hospital.”
The assistant hurried forward to take her.
Julian’s gaze swept the floor—papers scattered everywhere.
His jaw tightened.
Several employees scrambled to pick everything up, terrified of saying a word.
Only after the hallway was clear did Julian walk past, expression unreadable.
When the elevator doors closed behind him, the office erupted.
“Mr. Watson—held her?” one woman whispered. “He held her and didn’t fire her?”
Another sighed dreamily. “God, I wish I were Cora right now…”
⸻
Cora was sent to the Watson Group’s private hospital.
After a full round of tests, the doctor smiled at the assistant.
“Congratulations, you’re going to be a father.”
The assistant blinked. “What?”
It took him a second to process.
“She’s pregnant?!”
His eyes widened. Wait… Mr. Watson personally carried her out of the office… Could it be—?
So Mr. Watson wasn’t uninterested in women after all.
The poor guy nearly cheered from relief—his job, and apparently his chastity, were safe.
Now buzzing with excitement and gossip, he rushed to deliver the “good news” to his boss.
⸻
Meanwhile, Julian sat in the conference room, negotiating with a Korean conglomerate over a major semiconductor deal.
If it went through, it would bring enormous profit to both sides—and cement the Watson family’s international dominance.
“Our chairman values family above all,” the Korean representative said politely. “He believes only those who respect and cherish family can maintain lasting partnerships. Mr. Watson, a man of your talent and stature must surely be family-oriented, yes?”
Julian smiled smoothly. “Of course. The Watsons take family discipline very seriously.”
Just then, his phone buzzed.
“Pardon me,” he said with a courteous nod. “A quick message.”
The representative gestured kindly for him to proceed.
Julian glanced down at the screen.
Mr. Watson, the employee who fainted earlier has been examined—she’s confirmed to be pregnant.
For a moment, his face hardened.
Pregnant?
He sat very still. His mind flashed back to that night—
No protection. No clarity. No confirmation.
But now, the answer was clear enough.
His expression darkened.
“Is everything all right, Mr. Watson?” the Korean rep asked, sensing the shift.
Julian’s tone was calm but clipped. “Nothing important.”
The man relaxed, smiling again. “Excellent. Our chairman and his wife will visit next month to finalize the documents. We hope you’ll bring your own wife to the signing as well.”
Julian’s jaw tightened imperceptibly, but his answer came smooth and cold.
“Of course. The Watsons never disappoint our partners.”
He shook the man’s hand firmly—masking the storm behind his eyes.
