Chapter 2 What's Your Relationship?

Lucas's hand firmly restrained me. Gale angrily strode over: "Let her go! You're hurting her!"

Amelia curiously looked Gale up and down. Lucas questioned me: "What's your relationship?"

"None of your business." I broke free from Lucas's grip and quickly walked toward Gale before tears could fall: "Let's go."

Gale put his arm around my shoulder and turned around. Lucas followed with a dark expression, but Amelia held him back. Lucas seemed to suddenly remember Amelia was still there.

He stopped in his tracks. While he hesitated, I had already gotten into the Rolls-Royce. Without taking any luggage, I left the villa just like that.

"Bella, are you okay?" The man beside me looked at me with concern.

I forced a smile at him: "Gale, don't worry, I'm fine."

I have three brothers. Gale Sorelli is my eldest brother, ten years older than me.

Gale had been groomed by our father as the heir since childhood. His appearance and abilities were both outstanding, his reputation even overshadowing many heirs of major families.

Five years ago when our family was destroyed, his fiancée was also one of the betrayers. Since then, Gale rarely smiled.

He held me in his arms with heartache: "It's not worth being sad over that kind of man. Once your identity is exposed, you can have any kind of man you want, take your pick."

I patted Gale's back, going along with his joke: "Okay, I'll change to a new one every day to piss off Lucas."

My phone rang in my pocket. I saw Lucas's name on the screen, declined the call, and blocked him.

Before putting my phone back in my pocket, I saw a message from Lucas: [What's your relationship with Gale?]

The next day, I received a transfer from Lucas.

Starting at 9 AM, every ten minutes, he transferred one million dollars to me with messages:

[I'm giving you a chance to admit your mistake.]

[Answer me!]

[You actually dared to block me?]

[Bella, I don't allow anyone to betray me!]

Lucas was actually this angry, which was beyond my expectations.

After fifteen transfer messages, I thought Lucas would give up after getting no response, but he continued sending me money.

I received another thirty-six million dollars before my phone finally went quiet.

After being picked up by Gale, I temporarily stayed in Gale's apartment. In the evening, there was a knock at the door. When I opened it, a bouquet of fresh, beautiful roses with water droplets came into view.

I smiled slightly, looking at the man delivering flowers: "Brian!"

"Dear Bella!" Brian gave me an enthusiastic hug. "I was on a business trip. I rushed over as soon as I got off the plane! I couldn't go with Gale to pick you up - you're not mad, are you?"

I shook my head with a smile: "Of course not!"

My second brother Brian's personality was completely opposite to Gale's. He was lively and cheerful, loved excitement. Once his biggest dream was to eat, drink and have fun for life, letting our parents and Gale make money to support him.

Now Brian had become a lawyer, using his superior social skills to build a vast network, moving between legal and illegal circles. Although he smiled brightly, there was some fatigue in his expression.

Brian said: "Go change clothes, I'll take you to the cruise ship to enjoy the night view and have a feast!"

I asked: "What about Gale?"

Brian added: "He's a workaholic now, won't rest until he works overtime until 10 PM. Don't worry about Gale, I prepared a fireworks show for you. I remember you loved watching fireworks when you were little!"

I knew Brian wanted to cheer me up, so I didn't refuse his kindness, planning to go back after watching the fireworks so Brian could rest early.

Starstream City was a new city built on an island. The outermost quarter of the land was reclaimed from the sea. The government vigorously developed tourism, and the coast had many private cruise ships and speedboats, usually forming a beautiful scenery.

The evening breeze carried the salty sea air into the terrace restaurant. I ate the lobster pasta on my plate while Brian sat across from me, hands supporting his chin, smiling as he watched me.

"Brian, stop grinning and eat," I said helplessly.

"Okay, okay, Bella really cares about me the most," Brian said okay but still kept looking at me, his eyes both heartbroken and relieved.

I knew he must be thinking about these past years. After mom and dad died, we four siblings were forced to flee, then fell into desperate circumstances being hunted, and had to separate. Now that we four siblings were about to reunite, Brian couldn't help feeling emotional.

"It's about time!" Brian looked at his watch and snapped his fingers.

The sky ahead suddenly burst with golden fireworks, then turned into thousands of silver-white stars falling toward the sea.

I looked at the sky with delight. Fireworks bloomed one cluster after another, reflected in Brian's smiling eyes.

My nose stung, "Thank you, Brian."

"Why are you crying?" Brian frantically cupped my face to wipe away my tears. At that moment, a familiar male voice came from behind, calling my name with suppressed anger: "Bella! Damn it, what are you doing?"

I turned around to see a cruise ship approaching. Lucas stood at the bow, several buttons of his shirt undone, the open collar fluttering in the wind. Amelia held his arm, wearing a beige dress with Lucas's jacket draped over her.

Lucas frowned tightly, his gaze coldly examining me and Brian: "Who is he now?"

Brian wanted to say something, but I shook my head at him. My gaze swept over Lucas's hand where he had already removed his ring, and I said coldly: "Who I'm with is none of your business."

"One new man after another, I really underestimated you!" Lucas seemed calm, but his heavy hostility was almost impossible to hide.

"I'm indeed not as devoted as you," I glanced at Amelia mockingly.

Lucas was like a lion provoked by prey, coldly staring at Brian: "State your name. You're not afraid, are you?"

"Brian, I'm a lawyer," Brian answered calmly.

Lucas thought of something: "Silverpeak Legal Group?"

Brian nodded: "That's right."

Last year Brian opened a law firm in Starstream City, won several high-difficulty cases, and became famous. I knew Lucas had wanted to recruit Brian, but Brian knew about his relationship with me and stubbornly refused to meet Lucas.

Meeting him now, Lucas might overthink things.

Sure enough, Lucas looked at me with deep eyes.

"Just a lawyer. If I wanted, I could shut down your firm anytime!"

I hated his threatening tone toward Brian and was about to speak when Brian said first: "If my firm goes bankrupt, don't expect your casino to open either."

The casino was highly profitable and Lucas's most valued new business this year.

"How annoying, I want to go back!" Amelia had been ignored for a while and had been in the cold wind, so she was in a bad mood: "Lucas, if you still care about that woman, just stay here!"

"How could I possibly care about her?" Lucas instinctively denied.

He signaled the captain to return and turned to chase after Amelia.

"Lucas," I called out loudly.

He stopped.

I took off the wedding ring from my finger: "I forgot yesterday, now I'm returning it to you."

I threw it hard. Lucas stepped forward as if wanting to catch the ring, but the ring was so light it flew over the ship's rail, drawing an inconspicuous arc against the backdrop of fireworks, and fell into the sea.
