INTRODUCE ME!
CHAPTER SIX
DIANA
I smiled brightly as Diego approached him. It had been more than five years since I last saw this person, and he was even more mature than ever.
I remembered our university days and how Diego had gone out of his way to take care of me and I sighed. All of those days seemed like a lifetime ago . We all thought we would have a great life once we left school, and everyone seemed to be doing really well for themselves, I was the only one who seemed to still be stuck in the same place.
A wave of shame suddenly came over me, and I lowered my head a bit
Diego was standing in front of me, and he was looking at me with the same look he had given me when we were in school back then. A look that was filled with care.
"Diana, how have you been all these years? I've been trying to contact you, bit well, it seemed I lost contact with you once you got married," Diego said.
I forced a smile on my face, and refused to respond to that. James had forced me not to contact anyone from my past. He insisted I was married and I had to live a new life with him
A life where I was locked up inside his castle.
"Well I am back now," I said wryly.
Diego was a smart person, and he knew that I didn't want to talk about the past.
"I heard about what happened to your father, and then what happened to your husband. It's really sad," he said, as he looked at me pitifully
I always hated it when people looked at me pitifully. It made me feel like they were looking down on me. Her father's money was gone and he was dead. Her husband was dead too. How was she going to survive?
Those were the thoughts in their head whenever people gave me those pitiful looks. But it was different with Diego. He looked at me ...like he really cared.
I smiled, genuinely this time, "well, I am back, and I have to survive, don't I?" I flashed him a confident smile as I said this.
Diego threw his head back and laughed. "That's right. You've always been a pretty strong woman, Diana, and I am sure that you'd survive. Anyway, have you met Chris since you got back? I know that things didn't end well between you two but he ..."
Diego stopped talking once he was the look on my face. I smiled bitterly, it seemed everyone wanted to remind me that I had made a wrong decision back then.
However, even if we could go back to the past I would still make the same choices.
Diego shook his head, "no need to talk about the past. Anyway, I have to be somewhere now, this is my card, you can contact me if you need help at all," he said to me.
I took the card from Diego with shaking hands. I knew I wouldn't be contacting him. Standing in front of him like this made me feel ashamed for some reason.
Diego smiled at me one more time before he walked away, and Amanda snatched the card away from him as soon as he was out of our sight.
"I can't believe that you know the CEO of Hades Corps! He's the only competition our CEO had in this city! How come you know so many people, Diana?" Amanda asked me excitedly.
I sighed, "my father used to be a rich CEO. Of course, it would make sense that I know Diego. We went to the same university. He was my senior," I explained to her.
Amanda nodded her head, "that's pretty amazing. You don't know this but Diego and our boss has clashed a few times and so I know some things about him. Although he has a smile on his face all the time, he's pretty ruthless when it comes to business!" Amanda told me.
I waved my hand as I went back to looking at clothes.
"It's business, if you aren't tough, you'll be kicked out of the game before you know what's happening, " I said.
Even if you were tough, you could still be set up and lose everything that you had in the blink of an eye. It had happened to my own father, had it not?
"Well, I think he's pretty amazing. Hey, do you know if he has a girlfriend? His life is pretty private and no one can find anything about him," Amanda stated.
I stopped what I was doing and turned to her, shocked.
"Why are you asking me this, are you interested in Diego?"
She nodded her head at once, "yes!" She declared.
"He's a powerful CEO and he's so handsome. Of course, I want him for myself, can you please introduce us? Please?" Amanda pulled on my arm as she begged me.
I shook her off me, "we are no longer that close. We haven't seen each other in a few years, I can't do something like that," I refused
"What do you mean? He seems really close to you. He even gave you his card. You have to help me. You have to. Just imagine, if you got back together with Chris, and I got together with Diego, we would be unstoppable, we would be ...."
Amanda was still talking but I zoned out her voice. She could be quite annoying once she started chattering about something.
......
"Chris!" A woman jumped at Chris as soon as we arrived at the hotel hall where the banquet was taking place
She hugged him tightly, and she held on for dear life even though he didn't seem to care that much about her
"Chris, it's been a long time since we've met. My car said you were going to be here today, and I dressed up because I wanted to see you!" She announced.
Chris pushed her away from him slightly, "Slyvia, people are watching you," he told her, I knew Chris well enough to know that although he looked expressionless, he was upset.
That name struck me, and I took a good look at the woman's face.
At that same moment, she seemed to realize someone else was there.
She looked at my face too, and we both exclaimed at the same time.
"You?!"
