Chapter 3 Mirror Image

Mandy stood beside Harrison, speaking softly, "Harrison, you should go handle your work at the company. I'll stay here and take care of Lily. As soon as Dr. Johnson comes out, I'll ask her to examine her."

Because of pressing business matters, Harrison was eager to leave. After a moment's thought, he agreed to Mandy's suggestion and left Lily in her care, departing with Simon and his team.

Meanwhile, Mandy stayed with Lily, waiting outside the operating room.

Inside the operating room, the surgery was underway, with Elena and Nathan fully focused on their work.

Little Connor, holding his laptop, was rapidly typing while talking to Mia, who was playing a mobile game.

"Mia," Connor said, "Mom said our sister is here in Pinewood City. How should I find her?"

Mia eyes fixed on her game, glanced at Connor.

"Connor, aren't you supposed to be the world's smallest hacker? Finding someone shouldn't be too difficult for you. Since she's our triplet, she probably looks just like us. Why don't you run a big data comparison? That might lead you to her."

Mia's suggestion gave Connor newfound motivation.

He praised her. "Mia, you're so clever!"

Mia smiled shyly and returned to her intense gaming session.

In the game, she commanded another player. "You scaredy-cat, hurry up and follow The Boss! I'll protect you."

Indeed, Mia's username in the game was "The Boss". Connor, still typing on his laptop, couldn't understand how a five-year-old could have the audacity to call herself "The Boss" to others.

Was it just because she was good at gaming?

Zander's father's surgery was complex and would take several hours.

Connor and Mia remained in the waiting room outside the operating room, each busy with their own activities. Young as they were, they had long accepted their mother's busy schedule.

At the same time, Lily, waited outside the operating room, glancing timidly at Mandy by her side.

Mandy was engrossed in her phone, seemingly chatting with someone.

Lily didn't dare disturb her and only called softly, "Mommy."

The first time, Mandy had no reaction.

Lily raised her voice slightly and called again, "Mommy."

Hearing Lily's call, Mandy snapped impatiently.

"What's wrong with you? You sound like you're summoning a ghost. If you have something to say, just say it. The way you’re calling is irritating."

Lily shrank back after being yelled at. She held her stomach anxiously and asked Mandy timidly.

"Mommy, my tummy hurts. I really need to go to the bathroom. Can you come with me, please?"

Upon hearing Lily's request to accompany her to the bathroom, Mandy's expression changed instantly. What was Lily suggesting? That she wanted her to go along and wipe her bottom?

Mandy's brows tightened.

She scolded Lily. "Lily, you're already five years old. Can't you go to the bathroom by yourself? Why do you need me to go with you? What are you thinking? Didn't your teachers at preschool teach you? I'm sick and tired of this! You're nothing but trouble."

Lily, already timid and afraid of Mandy, started crying when she was scolded, tears falling immediately.

"I, I, I..." She stammered, unable to form a complete sentence.

Seeing Lily's reaction, Mandy became even more irritated.

"All day long, all you do is cry, as if I've done something terrible to you. Alright, go to the bathroom yourself. If I see one more tear from you, beware of my slap. Hold them back."

After saying this, Mandy grabbed Lily's arm and half-dragged her toward the bathroom. She yanked Lily along, and her small arm quickly turned purple and blue.

Although her arm hurt, Lily, without her father around, dared not say anything.

She bit her lip and went with Mandy to the bathroom.

At the bathroom entrance, Mandy pushed Lily inside. She then took out her phone and started playing with it again.

"Hurry up, don't make me wait too long. Otherwise, kidnappers might take you away, and you'll suffer for it."

Sensing Mandy's attitude, Lily didn't dare disturb her anymore. She moved carefully into the bathroom.

She had been physically weak since birth. Before she turned one, she was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. Because of this, everyone in the Frost family took great care of Lily.

Even when Lily went to the bathroom, someone would follow her to help pull up her pants, afraid that bending the wrong way might put pressure on her heart and cause irreversible damage.

Under such meticulous care, Lily's self-care abilities were somewhat lacking. Of course, she was also slightly shorter than children her age.

Lily tottered into the women's bathroom and laboriously pushed open a stall door.

At this moment, Mia, who had been playing her mobile game, also needed to use the bathroom after drinking too much water.

Coincidentally, the rest area where she and Connor were staying had another exit that led directly to the bathroom.

After putting down her phone and telling Connor, Mia headed straight for the bathroom.

As soon as she entered, she saw a little girl, slightly shorter than herself, tearfully pulling up her pants.

As Mia gazed at the little girl, she seemed to bear a striking resemblance to herself.

No, not just somewhat familiar—extremely similar.

Mia felt as if she was looking at herself in a mirror, and Lily, upon seeing Mia, was equally confused.

The two stood facing one another in bewilderment.

Even more coincidental was the fact that they were wearing the same outfit that day: a white shirt, long pants, and identical bun hairstyles. Even their skin tone was the same.

Mia's mind raced. Could this little girl be their missing sister?

But she seemed even shorter than Mia herself.

No, she had to ask what was going on.

Mia reached out, grabbed Lily's hand, and pulled her to the bathroom mirror. Pointing at their identical faces in the mirror, she said, "We look very alike, don't we?"

Lily nodded. "Yes."

"So, we might be sisters?"
