CHAPTER 001
KEISHA'S POV
The tray of wine trembled in my hands as Alpha Alan's eyes found mine across the crowded ballroom. Tall, broad-shouldered, chiseled jawline, his tuxedo hugging his frame perfectly while his hair was scattered in a sexy kind of disheveled manner, partially falling over his face. My gaze dropped to my feet, my wolf, Lumis, was already drooling and wagging her tail from the strong pheromones he exuded.
"Lumis, can you not embarrass me today?" a soft smile escaped my lips. My face, already bright pink. She paid no attention to me. Instead, she whined, spinning in circle.
In three days, at the mating ceremony, Alpha Alan would finally claim me as his Luna. An Omega maid becoming Luna? The thought alone made my heart race.
“Hey! You planning to serve those drinks or just stand there gawking?” The barman's sharp voice jolted me back to reality. “I'm certain you no longer value your job around here,” he hissed.
“I…I'm sorry,” I mumbled my apology, gripping the tray tighter before stepping into the crowd. “Sorry! Excuse me!” I yelled, though the music drowned my voice. Elbows from overexcited dancers jabbed me from different corners making me wince as I weaved through the crowd, careful not to spill the wine on anyone.
Alan's scent hit me again. Closer this time. I spun around to find him when my foot caught something. I stumbled, my tray flew forward before clattering on the floor. A gasp louder than the music echoed, and my heart sank.
“No, no, no..." The word barely left my mouth before I saw who I had spilled the drink on. "What have I done?” Terror flashed in my eyes, my heart banged in my chest like a war drum.
Luna Denise of the Crescent pack! I trembled. She was definitely not a lady to mess with and right now she stood before me with her ball dress splattered with crimson stains.
“You piece of shit!” A slap met my face; hard and fast. Stars dances in my vision as I crashed to my knees. I hadn't recovered when she grabbed my ponytail, yanking me up. Pain exploded through my scalp.
“You worthless Omega! Are you blind? How dare you ruin my dress?” Her question was accompanied by another slap that buckled my feet. “Seize her!” She barked.
Strong hands grabbed my arms, their nails dug into my skin as they dragged me across the broken glass littered on the floor, each piece tearing deep into my arm.
“Please, It was an accident. I'm sorry,” I wailed, warm blood trickling down my arm.
“Do you know how much damage you've caused? I'm certain your miserable generation put together cannot afford this,” she barked, scraping my face with the rough lace of her ball dress.
"Plea...Please your high....ness!" I tried to wriggled off the harsh fabric so I could catch my breath but she kept me steadied with her hand, until a voice cut into the drama.
“My goodness! What have you done?” Mrs. Jacqueline, the head of hospitality appeared like a storm cloud. My stomach twisted because the situation just went from bad to worst. Luna Denise eased off on me a bit turning to Mrs. Jacqueline.
"Look what your incompetent staff did to my dress. Is that how you all treat royalty in your pack?" she barked.
“It was entirely a mistake Ma. I… I didn't mean to ruin her dress. I… I just tripped and…”
“Shut up!” She punctuated my explanation with a bark. Her eyes burned with unbridled rage. “Clean up this mess this minute!” She ordered, turning her attention to Luna Denise. Her voice suddenly sounded sweet like honey. “My apologizes your highness. Kindly come with me this way, so we can get you cleaned up," she gestured to an exit.
Luna Denise hesitated, turning back to me with fire in her eyes. “Consider this as a warning,” she growled in my ear. "Drop her!" She ordered and immediately the guards threw me off like a piece of garbage. I collapsed yet again into another piece of glass.
“Urgh! I groaned in pain, biting down on my teeth, my fingers trembled as I pulled out a chunk of glass from my forearm— hot tears blurring my vision.
I wept, my tears mixed with the spilled wine on the floor. I pulled off my shirt with trembling hands and began mopping the floor
“Well Well Well…Who do we have here?” A familiar voice cooed over me. Emilia, one of Aurora's friends stood over me with her friend Aria, her voice dripped with jest as she lingered looking down on a bruised body. "The poor little thing is crying." she mocked.
“Oh! She's bleeding,” the second voice, Aria mouthed in mockery. She leaned over, looking into my face with fake concern.
These two have been a thorn in my life. Friends to Aurora, my best friend, I'm yet to understand the reason they despised me so much. Thankfully Aurora comes to my rescue, but just like Alan, she wasn’t here to save me this time.
I swallowed the embarrassment, still mopping the floor.
“I think you missed a spot!” Emilia giggled emptying her drink on me before walking off with Aria.
Whatever was left of my dignity was crushed. I heaved rapidly trying to hold back the tears welling up in my eyes. The moment I was done, I walked off the scene burying my head in shame.
“Keisha!”
I flinched barely halfway to the store room.
“What was the meaning of that display? Do you want to earn enemies for the Nightbane pack?” Mrs Jacqueline came back for me, pulling me by my ear towards the VIP restroom.
“Believe me ma, I never planned for that to happen. It was entirely an accident,” my brows knitted together in remorse but she was not having it with me.
“I have nothing to say to you until the event is over!” She growled, tossing the VIP toilet’s key card and some fresh uniform at me. “Get in there, fix yourself, and meet me at the kitchen in fifteen minutes,” she ordered, her tone not giving room for negotiations.
“Yes, ma!” I bowed, hastening my steps.
I slid down to the floor after shutting the door behind me— my arm, sore and burning with intense pain. Burying my face between my legs, I sobbed bitterly.
I couldn't endure any longer. My body trembled but I dared not keep my Mrs Jacqueline waiting. I rose to my feet, walking over to the sink.
In front of me was a half-length mirror that reflected my ordeal. Sliding it to the left, I reached for the first aid kit in the cabinet behind when I realized I wasn't alone in the restroom.
What was that? My ear twitched in the direction of the sound. The closer I moved, the more audible it became—soft moans, muffled giggles, and deep grunts of pleasure. Perhaps it was one of the drunk couples from the party. I rolled my eyes, turning on my heel when a voice stabbed me like a knife to the chest.
“Open up, baby. Damn it! I can't wait to make you wholly mine!”
My world tilted. Everything I had held onto came crashing down. That voice? No, it can't be. My eyes became glassy with tears. Shuddering silently, I moved closer to the changing room, pressing my ear against the door.
“I do not understand why the moon goddess would want to ruin my reputation by mating me with a lowlife,” he grunted deeply.
“Oh, Alan,” a voice sighed in pleasure. “I can't wait to see the look on her face when you reject her and only then will she realize she was just a pawn in the game.” she sneered in between soft moans while Alan roared softly.
Aurora? Alan? My eyes flew open in disbelief. How can this be possible? My lips trembled as I struggled to get a grip on my emotions. Hot tears burned my cheeks as they rolled down my face.
In between was the undeniable sound of skin slapping on another skin in a rhythmic thrust. Their breaths grew more frantic and feral. They were having sex! Betrayal coiled my heart like a snake.
Without thinking, I grabbed the door handle and pushed it open.
“What the hell!” Alan's grey eye widened in shock as he froze, mid-thrust.
