Chapter 5 A Sudden Proposal

(XANDER'S P.O.V)

"F-Forgive me, Chairman Xander!" the woman bowed down her head infront of me, while my son Xenon was sitting on the couch.

Time check: 4:30 PM

Xenon finish his last class at 2PM in the afternoon. So he's been missing for two hours? And they didn't inform me first? Fck.

We are currently inside my office and I close my eyes and massage my forehead. I already called the head maid of the mansion, and ask how did Xenon end up going here on his own. Dmn I'll kill them all if something happens to my son.

"She stops me from meeting you, and said that there's a monster inside this office." Xenon suddenly explained.

Monster? Is she referring to me?

The woman turn around to Xenon's side with a shock look on her face.

She faked a smile,

"H-Haha.. Really, kid? I said that? I can't quite recall hehe..." she answered.

I look at her and saw the sweat on her forehead, and her hands are slightly trembling. I can't help to chuckle a bit, she seems pretty scared.

"What's your name again?" I suddenly asked.

"S-Shannica Marquis, sir." she immediately answer.

"Hmm, Ms. Marquis, so you must be wondering why I also called you here inside---"

"WAAAA I'M SO SORRY, SIR XANDER. I SHOULDN'T HAVE CALL YOU A MONSTER INFRONT OF YOUR SON. FORGIVE ME... I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE MY JOB RIGHT NOW.. PLEASE, DON'T FIRE ME." she bluntly proclaim with a teary-eyed face.

I was too stunned to speak. Great, she just admitted that she called me a monster.

Hmm. Did I ever said that I will fire her?

Suddenly, a laugh burst from from my mouth as I can't help it anymore. My secretary, Liam, look at me like 'it's been a while since I last saw your smile'.

"S-Sir? Did I say something funny?" the woman named Shannica asked.

I cleared my throat as my smile faded away.

"It seems like there's a misunderstanding here, Ms. Marquis. I'm not going to fire you, because I have no reason to do so. You're the productions team's managing staff right?" I asked.

She nods.

I smile, "You're quite good, so there's no reason to eliminate a hard working employee like you."

Her face brighten up, "Thank you, sir! Hue I was so worried I might end up losing my job right this instance. Thank you sir!"

"Seriously? You're going to let that slide, Dad?" Xenon suddenly uttered.

"Xenon." I warned him. He stared at me in his cold eyes, and look away without saying anything.

I saw Xenon glance at that Shannica and saw them glaring at each other.

"Have you seen that, Dad?! She glares at me!!" Xenon complains and pouted.

"What? I did? Why would I glare at you, kid? You're our Chairman's precious son." Shannica asked innocently and smile sweetly at Xenon.

I chuckle slightly again, it seems like my son had found his counterpart.

"You may go now, Ms. Marquis." I ordered.

She glance at me, "Oh yes, I will. Thank you again, sir." she said and bow her head while walking away from the office.

"Xenon, why did you do that?" I asked as soon as the woman left.

Xenon didn't look at me and remain seated.

"Since when did you learn riding a bus on your own? You could have been in danger!" I shouted.

He lift his head and look at me with his cold eyes,

"Wouldn't it be an advantage to you, Dad?" he asked.

I look at him confusedly, "What are you saying?"

"You would be happy to see me gone. Right?" he answered.

My aura turns into dark as I wrench my fist.

I slam my hands on the table and stood up,

"WHAT?! XENON LINCOLN YOU--"

I stopped myself from getting mad when someone suddenly knock on the door. How could a 7 years old kid answer me that way?

Xenon and I has been distant to each other. I don't know why and how it started, but as Xenon grows...

The more we grew apart from each other.

The door opens and it was Xenon's nanny and driver appeared in front of us.

"W-Were sorry, sir Xander..." They apologize.

I sigh, what's the point of having an argument with this kid?

"Do. Not. Ever. Let. Something. Like. This. Happen. Again. Understood?!" I put emphasize in every word I said while glaring at Xenon's nanny and driver.

I noticed them tremble with fear and immediately nod their heads.

"Y-Yes, Sir X-Xander." they both answered.

"Take Xenon home. I still have a lot of things to do." I ordered without looking to anyone of them.

"Let's go, young master..." I heard the nanny said to Xenon.

Xenon didn't even protest as if he also don't like to stay here with me.

Just like that, they left and I was left alone in my office and continue my work.

FASTFORWARD

6:30 PM in the evening when I noticed that it's already dark. So I decided to stood up and get my coat to leave.

I went outside and see that the lights are already turned off. Liam, my secretary already went home awhile ago telling me something urgent came up.

I entered the elevator and pressed the ground floor where the parking area is located.

I was on my way to my car but I heard a noise from the left corner of the parking area.

"You only have a week and 4 days, Ms. Marquis. Pay the five million dollars, or else your mom and brother will die in our hands."

Marquis? That name sounds familiar.

"Five million?! What are you talking?! You said I just need to pay the partial two million!! Are you crazy?! I don't have that large money!!"

"Hmm I change my mind.."

Out of curiosity, I glanced to the side where the noises came from.

To my surprise, it was the woman I saw earlier.

She is with three big guys and suddenly, the one who has a lot of tattoos in his arms pinned Ms. Marquis on the wall.

"P-Please.. I will pay you the money.. I promise, I won't escape... B-But not within two weeks... T-That's too short, I'm just an ordinary employee, where do you think I would get that large amount of cash?!" I heard Ms. Marquis pleaded.

What's happening? Is she being chased by loan sharks?

" Hmm well, it seems like I didn't recognize at first that you're really beautiful and has a nice body, Ms. Marquis.." the bad guy uttered.

"D-Don't touch me.."

"Well should we make another deal? If you sleep with me, I might give you a consideration, Ms. Marquis.."

I saw the guy caress Ms. Marquis cheeks down to her neck, down to her chest... Sht that bstard.

"Come on... It's not like this is new to you. What do you think, huh?" the guy ask smirking,

He was about to kiss Ms. Marquis on her neck but then...

"I SAID DON'T TOUCH ME!!" Shannica shouted and punch the guy on the face.

"YOU BTCH---" Before he could hit her, I immediately throw my car keys on his face.

The three guys and Ms. Marquis glance at me in shock.

"S-S-Sir X-Xander..." she said stuttering. Her eyes widened while looking at me.

The thug look at me from head to toe,

"And who's this guy? You're new man? Huh, such a gold digger, aren't you?"

"Well, you should stay out of this, man. There's the three of us... And you're alone." He threatened.

"Really? But you three can rot to prison in just a snap of my finger." I smirk.

"Huh is that so?"

I went to Ms. Marquis side and grab her hand,

"Let's go, Ms. Marquis." I said and drag her.

"And who do you think you are to meddle in our business huh?!" the thug suddenly attack me and punch me on my face.

PUNCH

Fck I didn't expect him to hit me immediately.

"S-Sir Xander!"

The two other guys was about to attack me two but then I raise my hand and pinpoint the surveillance camera.

"Look up... What a nice view, right? A perfect piece of evidence. Don't you think?" I smirked.

The three of them look shock, it seems like they haven't noticed the CCTV camera since earlier.

"GODD*MN IT!" they cursed.

"We're not done yet, Ms. Marquis! We'll get back to you!" they warned, and started running away like some cowards.

"Are you okay?" I immediately ask as soon as the thugs were gone.

She nods and look at the bruised on the side of my lips,

"I'm sorry, sir... Oh gosh, are you okay? Your lips..." she said in a very worried tone.

I slightly smile, "I'm alright."

"Thank you sir... I could've been in trouble if you didn't interfere. I owe you my life, sir Xander..." she shyly bend down her head while saying those words.

I observed her expression, and stop for a moment.

"Miss Shannica, are you married?" I asked out of the blue.

Her eyes widened again after she heard my sudden question.

"I happened to see your profile... Your name was Shannica Marquis Holstein... But you introduced yourself to me as Shannica Marquis only. Why?" I added.

She looked away and shook her head,

"I-I got divorced recently sir... I still haven't updated my information details in the company after my divorce. I'm sorry." she answered.

Divorced? She's not even old yet... In fact, she's even younger than me.

"Thank you for saving me, sir. I will surely compensate you for your kindness. But for now, I-I guess I have to go." she humbly said.

She was about to turn her back on me but... I suddenly made up my mind.

She's the perfect candidate that I'm looking for.

"Wait!" I grab her wrist to stop her from leaving.

"U-Uhm do you still have something left to say, sir?" she ask, looking directly in my eyes.

"Will you consider remarriage, Shannica? With me?" I asked.

"W-What...?" she unbelievably asked.

I took a deep breath and take the courage to say what I wanted to say,

"Marry me, Ms. Marquis."
