Chapter 4 Four

Bang!

The loud crack of the gunshot echoed through the hallway.

I kicked the door immediately, the hook jerked off and it flung open.

And we were met with a dark room, piled up with different sizes of boxes.

“Turn on the light.”

I ordered.

And as soon as the lights were switched on, my eyes darted to the left corner of the room where a huge sack lay on the dirty floor.

That caught my attention,

But another thing caught my attention.

The huge box sitting on top of a table was knocked down by one of the officers as he was clearing the path I was walking on.

All the content in the box was scattered over the place, and at the same time, the huge sack moved.

What is in there?

I diverted my attention towards the sack, but an officer drew me back.

“Look at this, Detective Lizzy,”

He pointed towards a flat box lying among the junk from the huge box.

“Pass me a glove.”

After sliding it into my hands, I picked up the blank box, turned it around to see if I would find what was inside it.

But there is nothing written on the box, just a blank carton.

I removed a sharp blade from my pocket, ripped it and,

“Wow!”

A smirk appears on my face.

Wonderful!

Now we have gotten the number one clue.

“What is Mr. Mathew doing with a gun?”

Even I was stunned,

But instead of focusing on what we had found,

I passed the box to the officer and started going through the remaining boxes.

Even though I was focused on the other boxes, my attention was still on the sack.

All this time, the sack would move for a few seconds, then stop.

After a thorough search of all the boxes,

I found two boxes stacked with pistols,

A dozen of them stacked with bullets,

And other boxes contain junk.

Mr. Mathew surely is a deceitful person.

“Take these away.”

I ordered.

And as they carried out the boxes one after the other,

I approached the sack,

Fetched out my pistol and pointed it towards it.

I squatted down, jabbed it with the pistol and it moved again.

Hmm

This figure looks like a human being.

Well, let’s see.

I flared out the blade from its holder and carefully yanked the sack from the edge where it was sealed,

And oh,

My prediction was correct.

It is indeed a human being.

“Is that idiot into human trafficking or what?”

One of the officers gasped.

But no, he isn't.

I know exactly what he is trying to do with this lady.

This case has indeed taken another turn.

I detach the ropes from her hands, her legs, and cut off the clothes that fastened around her mouth.

“Thank goodness!”

She exclaimed, panting heavily.

“Please help me!”

She cried out, tears flowing down her face.

That beast!

“Calm down, you've come to the right place.”

I helped her stand on her feet, but she held onto my hand tightly.

“Calm down, Mr. Mathew is in custody. He won't hurt you.”

That fool will regret his action as long as I am still breathing.

We returned to the headquarters after gathering all the clues we retrieved from his house.

“What are guns and bullets doing in your house?”

His eyes popped out of their sockets the moment I asked,

However, he tried to be mischievous.

“What are you talking about, Detective Lizzy?”

He furrowed his brows into a frown.

Even though he tried to pretend, his action showed he was guilty.

“Speak!”

I smacked the table with full force.

The way he was grumbling provoked me and flared my anger.

“They…”

He swallowed the lump in his throat and lowered his head.

“They are mine. Is there any problem with that?”

Oh, really?

“To protect themselves during an attack before the security intervention, all the elites in this city, especially the politicians all possess a gun which is approved by the government.”

He bobbed his head.

“But owning more than one is illegal, correct?”

“We are the government, Detective Lizzy, so I can own as many guns as I want!”

Oh, okay.

But not on my watch.

I threw two papers on the table and he picked them up, while glaring at me.

“Investigations showed that you obtained those guns and bullets illegally. Furthermore,”

I got up, pacing around the interrogation room.

“You are funding a group of thugs with those guns to attack anyone you have a beef with.”

“This is nonsense!”

He tore the papers into pieces.

I stepped forward, grabbed his chin, and pressed my fingers on it tightly so he would feel the pain.

“Now tell me!”

I commanded, eyes widening.

“Do you or do you not agree that you purchased these illegally?”

He bobbed his large head.

“Do you confess that you are sponsoring and distributing guns plus bullets to the groups of thugs working for you?”

“I confess!”

He stuttered.

Good!

“Do you also confess that you are behind Mr. Wang’s death?”

He hesitated for a while and then shut his eyes tightly.

“Mr. Wang was a fool!”

He broke down in tears.

Seeing that he is going to confess his crime, I released him.

“He thought he could insult me and go away with it!”

Interesting.

“But trust me, I wasn't the one who killed him. I know I hate him so much and would have done that if I had the chance, but that would have ruined my reputation.”

Hmmm.

“Bring her in.”

I ordered and the teenager we found at his place was brought in.

The moment he saw her, he dropped his trembling hands on his thigh.

“Do you know her?”

I asked, pointing my pistol at him.

He glanced at the lady and then lowered his gaze.

“What do you intend to do with her?”

He didn't say anything,

“Speak!”

I commanded and he exhaled.

“I was instructed by the magician to… to sleep with a teenager to win the election.”

Beast!

“It is obvious that he has so much dirt in his hand.”

The officer shook his head as we headed out of the headquarters.

“Yes. But he isn't the one who had Mr. Wang killed. Let’s go back to the crime scene.”

“Do you believe him, Detective Lizzy?”

I halted.

“Are you doubting my investigative skills?”
