Chapter 3 Alexander, You Have Been Drugged
Hearing this, Sophia and Noah both turned around and saw his gloomy expression.
Hearing them discuss divorce and going abroad together filled Alexander with a sense of betrayed fury.
"Why are you back so early?" Sophia said flatly, as if speaking to a stranger.
This coldness made Alexander even angrier. He had rushed back anxiously to check on her, only to find her here having a romantic conversation with another man?
He strode over, glared at Sophia, then looked down at Noah condescendingly: "Who let you into my house?"
Noah stood up and said politely, "Mr. Kensington, I heard about what happened tonight and was worried about Sophia, so I came to check on her."
"Check on her?" Alexander sneered. His head was burning hot, his eyes flickering with rage. "What right do you have to check on her? She's my wife."
"But you're about to get divorced, aren't you?" Noah stood his ground. "And these past two years, you know very well how you've treated Sophia."
The way he called Sophia's name made Alexander feel sick.
Alexander's face darkened further. He turned to look at Sophia and commanded in a low voice: "Make him leave."
Sophia looked at Alexander, her eyes devoid of any emotion: "Alexander, he's my friend. You have no right to kick him out."
Alexander laughed bitterly in anger. "This is my house, and I have no right?"
"Your house?" Sophia sneered. "Then what about me? What am I in this house?"
The two stared at each other, the air thick with tension.
Noah sensed something was wrong and said tactfully, "Sophia, I'll head back then. See you tomorrow."
Sophia nodded and made to stand up: "Okay, I'll walk you out."
"Walk him out for what?" Alexander stepped forward and pressed down on her shoulder, saying coldly, "He's not a child; he can walk himself out."
Noah frowned, gave Sophia a meaningful look, and left.
Sophia bit her lip. Only then did she notice that Alexander's hand temperature was alarmingly hot, almost burning her.
She quickly realized something was wrong and tried to break free, but he pressed down harder.
"Alexander, what's wrong with you?"
"Sophia." He looked down at her, calling her name in a low voice that was hoarse from the drug's effects. "Are you that desperate?"
Jealousy and anger fueled the drug's potency, making it even more intense. He could barely control his emotions, feeling like his whole body was on fire.
Sophia was startled and looked at him warily. His face was flushed, his eyes showing some kind of uncontrolled desire.
"You've been drugged."
Alexander froze, Lily's face flashing through his mind, but he quickly shook his head.
"Besides you, who else would be thinking about drugging me all the time?"
Alexander mocked coldly. He had lost his rationality and suddenly pinned Sophia down, his large frame pressing on her, making her unable to move.
"We've been married for two years, and I've never slept with you. What, now that you want a divorce, you're in such a hurry to find another man?"
Sophia's nightgown was roughly torn open, her fair chest coming into Alexander's view, making him feel a surge of heat below, his movements inevitably quickening.
Sophia struggled desperately, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead, her lips turning pale. She used all her strength to push him away and shouted angrily: "Alexander, snap out of it! I'm not Lily! You're hurting me!"
Her nails dug fiercely into Alexander's arm, leaving several prominent red marks.
"Really? Isn't this what you've been expecting all along?"
Under the drug's influence, even Alexander's sense of pain became dull, but Sophia's resistance made him slightly more alert. However, this stimulation wasn't nearly enough for him.
In that moment, he was dazed, and Sophia's eyes caught sight of the glass diffuser on the nightstand. She quickly reached for it and then smashed it hard against Alexander's forehead!
A sharp crack exploded in his ears.
Intense pain shot through Alexander's forehead, warm liquid flowing down his temple. He froze for a few seconds as the dizzy, burning sensation was instantly driven away by the pain. A fragrant scent hit him as the perfume from under the glass splashed onto the sheets and their skin, becoming even more intense.
The aromatherapy had calming and sleep-inducing properties. Alexander breathed heavily, his senses temporarily occupied by the pain. After inhaling an excessive amount of the aromatherapy, his muddled brain slowly began to work again.
His vision gradually cleared. He came to his senses in a daze, a rare flash of bewilderment crossing his deep blue eyes.
What was he doing? Why was he so angry? Where did this sense of loss and unwillingness come from?
The fine blood from his temple mixed with the essential oil solution and slowly dripped down, frightening Sophia.
"I..." Her eyelashes trembled as she began to feel scared, saying nervously, "Sorry, I didn't mean to. I just wanted you to snap out of it."
Hearing this, Alexander just frowned, narrowed his eyes dangerously, and stared at her for a while, then got off her with heavy breathing and difficulty, walked out of the room with a cold face without saying a word, and forcefully pushed open the bathroom door.
The burning heat in Alexander's body had only subsided for a few minutes before it surged back again.
The facts told him that he had indeed been drugged, and the most suspicious person was Lily, who had handed him that glass of red wine.
He had never lost control like this before, but Sophia wouldn't help him relieve his desire.
Realizing this, Alexander inexplicably felt a sense of loss and discomfort.
Sophia, inside the room, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She heard, as expected, the soft sound of running water from next door.
If Alexander hadn't come back tonight, the person lying in bed would have been Lily, right?
Sophia was really playing the perfect wingman, setting someone else up for success.
If it weren't for her, Alexander probably wouldn't have survived past last year's birthday.
Now he was living just fine, even having time to go on dates with his lover, while she was still worried about the toxins in his body relapsing, wanting to prepare another high-quality backup detoxifying aromatherapy for him, just in case. And now her sense of smell was ruined.
Sophia suddenly shook her head, finding herself utterly ridiculous.
The next morning.
When Sophia woke up, she was surprised to find Alexander still in the living room, but she quickly recovered and walked to the desk to take out the divorce agreement she had prepared long ago.
She didn't ask for any property division, just hoped to end this marriage.
After signing her name on the last page, she placed the agreement in front of Alexander.
Alexander glanced at the agreement and sneered as he threw it into the trash can.
"What are you doing?" Sophia was somewhat angry.
Alexander raised an eyebrow and sneered: "Sophia, do you think playing hard to get will make me fall in love with you?"
Hearing him say this, Sophia was almost amused by her anger.
"Mr. Kensington, our marriage was a transaction to begin with." Sophia's voice was soft but firm. "Now the transaction is over, isn't it?"
Alexander's face darkened further. He asked coldly: "A transaction?"
"Sophia, you have no right to bring up divorce with me." Without waiting for Sophia to answer, he continued, "What happened yesterday was my fault. I apologize, but don't push your luck."
After saying this coldly, he left without looking back.
Sophia watched his retreating figure and frowned.
