Heat doesn’t arrive like a storm.

It seeps in.

That’s the first thing I realize when I wake–again–long before dawn. It isn’t pain that pulls me from sleep, or fear. It’s awareness. Of my body. Of the air. Of the steady, grounding presence beside me.
