Chapter 5 Unstoppable Jealousy
Tomorrow was Helena’s wedding and everything was in a rush, everyone bustling to prepare everything accordingly.
“Arabella, listen, I want to talk to you,” Luke sighed, entering her room after a knock and plopping on the bed.
“Yes? What is it, Luke?” She asked happily, setting her dress and things and before checking in with the stylist for tomorrow.
“I am sorry, Arabella. I have to leave after Helena’s marriage for a month. I will come to meet your parents after it, okay?” He paused to get her reaction.
She stopped, furrowing her eyes, “Are you at least going to talk to William?”
“I would, of course, but after Helena’s marriage and after completing the work he gave me or else he won’t listen.”
Luke extended his hand out for her to take it, praying she won’t be angry but she didn’t think much due to William’s reassurance.
“I will come back after a month and then meet your parents too.”
“You truly would, Luke?” She smiled back nervously, taking his hand gradually.
“Do you not trust me?” He teased her.
“I trust you blindly.”
Chuckling, he rose from the bed and stood before her. Her heart skipped a beat to imagine one day they would be this close with no fear of ‘someone might see’.
Luke smiled and held her arms, bringing her as close as possible, hovering over her delicate form, bringing a scarlet shade on her cheeks.
They both smiled, intertwined enough to melt their hearts and eradicate all distances.
Closing their eyes, their lips almost greeted to dive into the pleasure.
But, ruining their moment, William came. And when he saw them this close, almost kissing, a scowling came to his face.
‘Not on my watch,’
The sight of her kissing another man induced a fury he never knew existed in him, his soul burned.
Gritting his teeth with rage, he entered the room furiously and called Luke in a booming tone, scaring the poor man.
“Luke!”
Gasping, the couple pulled away awkwardly, scared at his unforeseen rage. They didn’t expect this reaction but he was out of control too.
“Y-Yes?” Gulping, Luke moved back, afraid of his brother’s wrath.
“What are you doing here? Don’t you know we have work to do? Go!” He ordered angrily, frightened the couple by his wrath.
“Y-Yes,”
Looking down quickly, Luke immediately rushed out of the room, leaving a startled Arabella who became anxious.
Gulping hard, she moved back.
Not sure what to speak when he entered her room with fire in his eyes. Closing their gap, making her shiver slightly at his closeness.
“And you, what the hell do you think you were doing?”
Breathing out furiously, his limit was broken.
His jaw clenched causing her to shiver in dread. Holding her dress, she didn’t want him to disapprove of their love.
“I am sorry.” Her broken tone came out, on the verge of crying.
Seeing the tear in her eyes, William stopped instantly. He was furious but couldn’t bring himself to increase her dread.
Inhaling sharply, he gradually relaxed his shoulders, his tall and muscular form before hers sternly.
“Arabella, I believe I reassured you that night then what seems to be the problem? Do you not trust my words?”
He wanted to get angry but controlling himself for now, he exhaled in a softer tone, holding his sides out of frustration.
“No, that’s not it. I just… I am sorry.” She whispered dejectedly, looking down.
His strong eyes on her were frightening her, praying it won’t ruin anything between her and Luke by one moment of closeness.
“I am saying this for your betterment. You don’t want to be called a gold digger or anything worse, do you?”
He sighed, taking her fragile emotions in his advantage and pushing her towards a trail of unwanted thoughts.
“No!” She gasped.
She had never been that type of woman. And being called as one would break her heart.
“Then maintain your distance. You are not the first woman to go after Luke, they will consider you one of his playthings.” He growled, pushing Arabella between unwanted thoughts.
Her eyes widened in disappointment, “Playthings…?”
“Didn’t Luke tell you that before committing to you that he was a playboy? Don’t you know? You should be grateful that he is sincere to you, at least.” William scoffed, giving Arabella thoughts which never crossed her mind before.
Her heart skipped a beat upon knowing things, having no idea that he was only entangling her in his deceptive talks.
“Don’t scare me like this.” She whispered desperately, shaking her head in denial.
Raising an eyebrow, William hid all his malevolent intentions behind his fake compassionate look. Leaning forward, he whispered in a sugar-coated tone.
“I would suggest you confirm if Luke would actually ask me in the first place or not.”
With this enunciation, William successfully induced distress in Arabella and walked away, leaving her disturbed.
“I.. understand.”
She walked out of the room quickly, distressed as he managed to push her into a storm of undesirable perception and in that questioning, she bumped into Luke again.
“Oh, Luke,”
Sighing, she was about to get away but he held her arms and glanced in the direction of her room and back to her again seriously.
“Why were you alone in the room with him?”
“He said to not fly rumors about us that he doesn’t want people to call me a… gold digger,” She mumbled, lowering her gaze sadly to which his jaw clenched.
Swallowing hard at his sternness, she poked his chest innocently, “What’s with your face?”
His two-second rage melted at her glimmering gaze, exhaling his unlikely thoughts, he pulled her into a side hug, walking to an empty corridor.
“You know I am possessive about you… I just didn’t like it,”
She stopped in her tracks, twirling her fingers around her dress.
“He also asked me if you will talk to him or not or am I only temporary… Plaything,”
“Oh, come on, Baby, do you think I am that type of man? At least in your matter?”
He chuckled nervously, placing his large hand over her head, ruffling her hair for reassurance.
“Well it has been two years and we haven’t officially told anyone,” She muttered.
Pushing him away to walk away angrily but he grabbed her wrist, pressing her into the wall with a tempting smirk.
“Because I want to directly announce our wedding, my love,”
“Really?”
“Trust me. One day you will wear a ring of my name in your hand and it will remain there for eternity.” He whispered sincerely, deeply as it was his heartily desire to have her as his.
He was dreaming of the day when she would become his wife.
“Oh, Luke.”
A tear pricked in the corner of her eyes, his talks never failed to sink her in the pools of his love.
Arabella had accepted him as her future, she couldn’t imagine her life without him.
“One day, you and I will be one, you will walk down the aisle, I will be waiting for you, we will kiss and seal our happy ending.” He enunciated wholeheartedly.
“I will wait for that day.”
… Unaware William was listening and earnestly cursed their bond, praying it breaks in an irrecoverable way.
Wrath flickering in his sapphire orbs, growling under his breath, he walked away.
“I pray that day never comes,”
