Chapter 5
DALIA
Why did I say yes? I thought while remembering the call I had with Noah as I stared at the huge, open textbook on the table in front of me. It was the same thought I had been having since Saturday night and a part of me was panicking about seeing Noah again this afternoon.
I’m not ready for a relationship so why did I say yes?
Yes, he might not be meeting me this afternoon because he wanted me to be his girlfriend but he definitely wasn’t meeting me because he wanted to talk about the weather.
What are we going to talk about?
I groaned in frustration and took my eyes off the textbook because thinking of Noah wasn’t letting me focus. Even though I was panicking about seeing him again, I couldn’t wait to do so and I knew that if I had said no instead, I would be regretting it.
I really couldn’t wait to see him again and a smile grew on my face at the thought of hearing his amazing, molasses-rich voice that sounded erotic whenever he said my name. Lots of people have an amazing voice, idiot. Even some serial killers have an amazing voice.
I could also picture him holding me down… pinning me under his hard weight while he pounded into me ferociously. Oh, hell. I instantly pressed my thighs together to ease the ache I felt down there as intense heat rushed to my throat and face from the memory of his hands and mouth on me and his cock in my pussy and I tried and failed to dismiss my escalating arousal. I wanted him again, there was no denying that.
“Dalia,” a voice suddenly called out next to me and I jolted in my seat before glancing at my right to see Harvey standing next to me. His brows were slightly furrowed as he stared at me and I swallowed as I stopped pressing my thighs together. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I… I’m fine,” I replied and closed my textbook as he sat down next to me.
“Why did you bring this to class?” he asked while placing his bag on the table. “It’s only the first day and I’m pretty sure most of the lecturers will only talk about the syllabus.”
“Yeah,” I muttered absent-mindedly because I actually didn’t know why I brought it. Probably because Noah was, and still is, the only thing on your mind.
I sighed and pushed the textbook towards him. “Put it in your bag. I’ll collect it when we get back to the apartment.”
“No way. That book is for weightlifters,” he said as he moved his bag away from me like I was going to grab it. He was right though, the book was damn heavy but it wasn’t as heavy as he made it sound.
“Come on, It’s not that heavy,” I pleaded and gave him my best puppy-dog eyes. “And it can’t even fit in my bag.”
He snorted and pushed the book back towards me. “Sucks to be you then,” he replied and I sneered at him just before Tamika stepped into my line of sight with a cup of coffee in her hand. Her brows were slightly furrowed in confusion and she looked a little bit lost as she slowly surveyed her surroundings.
“Hey, babe,” I said while Harvey said, “What’s up, Tammy?”
She returned her attention to us and I raised my brows at her, wondering what was wrong. “What. The Hell. Are we doing in the front row of Calculus?” she asked and I resisted the urge to laugh at her reaction.
“Oh, this is Higher Analysis actually,” Harvey corrected as he leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table and Tamika’s eyes darted to him.
“...What the fuck is that?”
“Math three-six-one-one?”
She gave him a blank stare and he removed his elbows from the table before pointing at me.
“Dalia is the one who picked the front row,” he stated and I shot him a look while she frowned at me.
“Why did you bring that to class?” she asked after her gaze fell to the textbook on the table and I pushed it towards her when I realized that it could fit in her bag.
“Please put it in your bag. I’ll collect it when we get back to the apartment.”
“No,” she replied without hesitation and I pouted while Harvey let out a laugh.
She then walked around the table and sat next to Harvey while I picked my phone up from the table. I unlocked it and as I stared at the screen, I began to wonder what Noah was doing. Was he also looking forward to seeing me again?
Stop it, I told myself and shook my head sideways, You’re thinking about him way too much.
“Excuse me,” Tamika said in a cheery voice and I realized that she was standing in the space between Harvey and the table. I then leaned back in my seat and she shuffled past me before sitting next to me.
“Hey,” she said in the same cheery voice like she was just seeing me for the first time today and I gave her a goofy smile as I pushed my textbook towards her. She pursed her lips and my smile grew wider when she grabbed the textbook before shoving it into her bag.
“Thank y-”
“Holy fuck. That’s the professor?” she blurted out, her eyes widening slightly, and I glanced at the front of the hall to see a man scrawling his name on the board. I couldn’t see the man’s face since he was facing away from us but I could guess that he wasn’t old. “I’m never going to be late for Calculus.”
“Uh, it’s Higher Analysis,” Harvey corrected and she gave him a dismissive wave.
“Whatever it is. Sign me up for the next class.”
“You already signed up for it.”
“Shut up Harvey,” Tamika retorted just as the professor turned to face the class and my mouth instantly fell open while my eyes went wide.
Holyshit. Holyshit. Holyshit, my mind chanted as my heart rate elevated. Noah?
“Good morning class. I’m Pro-” His eyes fell on me and they widened slightly while I felt like I had been doused with freezing cold water. Memories of the both of us in that club’s VIP room flooded my mind and I took a deep breath as we stared at each other.
He then glanced at the other people in class and back at me before he cleared his throat. “I’m Professor Anderson.”
Oh, fuck.
