“Damn it!” I yelled at Niel as I pushed through the door to go back to the party. I had gone to reject Nina, but before I could she kissed me, and made both Niel and I go crazy. I still felt the lingering feel of her lips on mine. She tasted even better than she smelled, and it was addicting. She smelled like autumn, but she tasted like hazelnut. We were interrupted by the black haired wolf still in his wolf form, and though it made me angry that someone had interrupted us I was grateful, because I don’t think I would have stopped. After we broke apart I was still processing what happened when Neil said he would never let me reject our mate. With that said I got pissed, and stormed away without saying a word. I needed some time to process, everything was so fcked up right now. When I got back to the party I went straight for the drinks needing to clear my head. Tomorrow my dad and I will be going to the Valley Pack to speak with Alpha Nina about the way she wanted our packs to merge. I spent the rest of the party in a daze before my dad found me and told me it was time to go. Thankfully I had no more run-ins with alpha Nina.
The next day we went to the Valley Pack territory around 10am. I was uncomfortable, yet excited to be seeing Alpha Nina again. I didn’t quite understand what he really meant when he said he would never let me reject our mate, and that made me nervous, because he could be very unpredictable. My dad was nervous as well, he had been fidgety all morning, and was very stiff. I still found it hard to believe that she beat him so easily. My dad was one of the best fighters, and had never lost before. Somehow she managed to read his every move, and counter easily. Not to mention her wolf who was absolutely mesmerizing. She glowed with power and pride. She reminded me of the wolves of legend, but I shook off the thought that wolves haven't been born in over 500 years.
When we passed through the gates to the pack house we were met with two guards who took one look at my father, and let us pass through saying “welcome Alpha.” This was my first time visiting the pack house. It was.....small for a pack house. Yes it was still as big as a castle, but it was nowhere near what I had expected. It was four stories, and only took up an acre of land. Our pack was smaller, yet our pack house was easily double the size of theirs. Almost as if reading my thoughts I heard my dad speak.
“Don’t let the size fool you son. There is a reason they are one of the great twelve packs.” I looked at him in disbelief. As we parked the car, and got out. We were greeted with the previous alpha and his mate. Who were both smiling kindly at us.
“We gladly welcome you to our home Alpha Leroy and Raff.” Lowell said in a pleasant tone. “If you don’t mind, Alpha Nina has asked us to welcome you.” He said, holding out an arm towards the house. We both bowed our heads in respect, and walked forward. Lowell and his wife promptly followed. He had his arm wrapped around her waist, and you could tell the love they held for one another, and my heart ached at the thought of Nina. “We would like to offer you a tour of the house as it is your first time being here, and you may need to be acquainted with it for the future.” Leroy says, opening the door to the house for us.
“We would be delighted to have a tour of your beautiful home,” my dad said in an honest tone. I could feel my anxiety spike as we neared the house. I could almost feel Nina’s presence around me.
“Wonderful.” Alice said with a smile as she stepped forward into a family room with many couches and chairs in it. For a small room it was very bright, and had an open feel to it. With two double doors opened wide to reveal the green field outside. As we headed deeper we discovered that the first floor was the main area, which had been remodeled to house a game room, media room, family room, and the kitchen. While the second floor was bedrooms for females only, and the third floor was for males. When we got there she took us to a window to look out back which revealed an Olympic sized track, a building large enough to hold two or three packs, and a forest that stretched for miles. She explained the building was for training, the track was for running in human form, the area in the middle of it was for challenges, while the forest was for fun. Though it was occasionally used for training as well for “games” they called hide and seek, tag, and blinds man’s bluff. All of which sounded like children’s games. We went up to the fourth floor which was for the alpha, their family, the beta, gamma, and offices. It also held rooms for guest alphas. I realized even though it was small it still had everything they needed which slightly impressed me. Alice led us down a hall filled with paintings to a door. “Nina likes art,” she explained as we got to a dark wooden door. She knocked on the door three times before opening it. “Nina sweetheart, I have brought our guests.” She says sweetly, peeking her head into the room.
“Thank you mother, have they gotten a tour of the house yet?” I heard Nina ask.
“Yes sweetie we just got done showing them around.” She says as she opens the door wider, and walks in. Lowell follows suit leaving my dad and I in the hallway looking in. Nina smiles at them, and I hear Neil purr.
“Come in,” I hear, and find Nina looking at both my father and me. My father bows his head in respect before entering, and I follow suit. Nina is standing behind a large wooden desk with her parents on either side of her. “Please, have a seat.” She gestures to two chairs in front of the desk. Both me and my dad take a seat, and once we sit down so does Nina.
“As you both know I called you here to discuss the new arrangements for our packs.” She looks at my dad pointedly. “I would like one of you to stay in Blue Shadows’ territory to maintain the pack there. While the others stay here, and help maintain this pack with me. I may be alpha, but I’m also still in high school. I know when I am at my limits, and going to school while being alpha would be too much for me, so I am seeking support from those around me. I would ask my father, but he passed the role of alpha on to me, trusting me to be able to do this, and also...he is going on vacation with my mother.” She rushes the last part out sheepishly. Which made me chuckle slightly. “With that being said I am seeking help from another alpha, or you.” She gestures to my dad. “Alpha Leroy, our packs are now one, and that means they can mingle from now on with you, and you pack members are free to come and go into each other’s territories as they please. As well I would like you two to discuss who would be staying on the Blue shadows’ territory, and who would be staying here to assist me.” My dad looks at me, and back to Alpha Nina. “You are both dismissed. You are free to stay in some of our guest bedrooms until you make your decision. She goes to stand up when my dad interrupts.
“There is no need for that alpha Nina, Raff will be the one staying.” I look at my dad in shock.
“Dad!” I exclaim as he looks at me.
“Son, don't argue. I can’t leave the pack not now. This matter is not up for discussion. You will stay here, and assist Alpha Nina in her Alpha duties.” He said while he got out of the chair, and left the room leaving all of us stunned. Alice and Lowell look at each other in disapproval before looking back at me and smiling awkwardly.
“Well,” Alpha Nina clears her throat, and forces a smile while standing up. “Now that that is settled Raff, if you will please follow us, and we will show you to the room you will be staying in.” I stand still in shock, and trying to figure out how this will work. Nina’s parents walk to the door, and open it while I follow, and Nina follows behind me. I am escorted by the three in silence to a door in the next hallway. This hallway is lined with art, as well as windows looking out over the training grounds and the forest on the right, and windows looking out the front of the house on the left. This Holloway has many doors, mine is the third on the left. When we get there they open it to reveal a long sized bed with a canopy above it. A walk in closet with automatic lights, and a bathroom big enough for twenty people.
“This will be your room for your time here, we hope you find everything acceptable.” Alice says with a smile.
“Yes, if you need anything please feel free to let me know.” Nina says from behind me. I turn around to face her. “I placed the room next to mine so that you can easily keep me informed, and can reach me quickly in case of emergencies. My bedroom is the one across the hall. I trust you...to....” her face changes to nervousness, and I feel her parents move, and see them standing next to her looking at her with concern. She straightens up “I trust you to take care of things in my stead, and to inform me immediately if things go wrong” I hear her voice through the mind link, and wonder how she is able to stand the headaches it gives. She looks at her parents with a look I couldn’t place, and Alice turns to me.
“Training starts at 6am sharp. You will be expected to attend, please don’t be late. Breakfast is at 7am. If you are here for mid day training it is held at 1pm, not required. Lunch is at 12pm, and evening training is held at 7pm you are required to attend that one as well. Again please don’t be late, and dinner is at 5:30pm. The rest of the time the training area is open. You are free to use it whenever. The rest of the time you are here you are free to enter the office as you please, and mingle with the rest of the pack.” She smiles at me kindly before placing her arm around Nina. The three turn around, and leave just like that.
“That is one hell of a training schedule, and you are required to attend at least two a day.” Niel is already upset about having to train so much.
“I wonder if it is for everyone, or just certain people.” I wonder.
“Well we will find out soon enough” He says to me exasperated. I look at my phone. It's 11am, so I text my dad to ask him if he could at least send over my clothes. He sent back shortly; there would be a truck arriving later that day. I don’t usually mind-link people, because I don’t like the intimacy of it. I flopped down on the king sized bed wondering how I was going to make it through this. Neil never spoke to me much, so when I asked him what he meant when he said he wouldn’t let me reject her he didn’t answer. It still made me nervous, partly because he was very unpredictable. I heard laughing coming from out the window, and looked down to see a few pups playing in the yard in front of the house. I open up the window to see there is a roof there, so I step out the window to have a seat, and enjoy the day before lunch.
