Chapter 6

It took several hours before Camilla finally regained consciousness, and it was the chatting of a doctor, and that of a stranger she heard.

"She might lose her memory, but we aren't certain yet..." the voices went on.

There is no doubt she was in the hospital, and they were talking about her. What she dreaded the most was having her mind blown off.

Realization finally dawned on her when the white curtains were blown open and the man she saw there was no other than, Ethan Jadiel Peterson.

She tried feigning recognition, but then, she noticed it was her chance in a lifetime the one she had to steal from this man. It is not like he caused the accident, but, his being there made her know she could use it to her own advantage.

"Oh! you are awake, I should get the doctor," he called out turning his back to leave.

The pain that shot through the lady as she tried calling the man back made her pause as she squeaked.

"Who are you?" the question popped out of her mouth.

Ethan's feet dug into the ground as he manage to stay still. What he dreaded the most had just happened.

"You don't know who I am?" the question slipped out of his mouth ever so readily.

It is no doubt that he is the town's most eligible bachelor, the alpha of the Red moon crest pack. Fear swept the man's features immediately. His mate had suffered a concussion that has made her lose her memory.

Thinking about it made the young man grit his teeth in anger, this is such a thing he wasn't expecting, and it disturbs him a lot, knowing that his mate doesn't recognize him.

"Who are you?" Camilla shot out again.

This time, she had this fierce look in her eyes, she made it soft when a sharp pain slice through her head.

"Arggh! what the fuck is this pain I am feeling. What happened to me and what is this on my leg?" she asked acting as if she had truly lost her memory.

She sulks in acting, but the young man before her was a total stranger. If she can maneuver her way through his head, she might achieve a monthly fee for her dad's oxygen bills.

Ethan who had almost stepped out of the door refrained a little while, he couldn't just walk away like that, at least, he needs to know this strange lady and more.

"You mean you don't know what happened to you?" the question slipped out of Ethan's mouth with care.

Whatever Camilla was going to say was truncated when she closed her eyes from too much pain, and in a matter of seconds, she was breathing slightly.

Ethan's mouth dropped by how scheming the young lady was.

"And here am I, talking to myself like a fool," she let out faintly.

It was crazy how all these took place, and as he walked to take a closer look at his mate, he found out her face had turned a light shade of blue. More like she is... sick.

"What the fuck!" he exclaimed as he dashed out to call the doctors.

When a small limp man walked into the white painted walls of the ward, he had a lab jacket on, and a stethoscope, wrapped around his neck. The professionalism of the man showed on his bearded chin, he looked like those workaholic doctors who truly need time to take a break and work on themselves.

Thinking about that, he sniffled a little, acting alright.

"She has a fever, I bet with her being on medication, it should get better. She needs rest, a lot of it as well," the doctor led out.

Ethan was more than pleased to hear that his mate is going to be alright. He isn't the one to show off a lot of emotions, but he couldn't help but smile brilliantly. It was truly an honor, and spending it that way as well was like making some sort of ritual for the lady.

Two hours had gone by and all Ethan Jadiel Peterson could do was to walk the length of the ward, he had paid for extra space. Staying in here for the most part of the day had made him lose count of time.

When he heard light sighs, he turned his attention and was shocked to meet his mate's deep brown eyes, flashing on hers.

He didn't want to fight with her, he wished she would just act ladylike.

The same thoughts that ran through his mind were also in Camilla's mind.

'This is a lifetime opportunity, and I can't blow it off like that,' she said to herself.

That was the obvious truth, and unless that understanding reign on her, she couldn't be able to leave. She has a broken leg, and the pain from it is enough to bring her to her senses.

She has been admiring the man that was busily pacing the floor for a minute now. She wondered if he didn't notice her yet, or if he was simply engrossed in his thoughts to notice her.

But then, he swirled his head in one shot and their eyes met. Behold, he was braced with emerald green eyes, they seemed unrevealing, thus, hard to know what was being those sun glasses of his.

She watched how he approached her side of the bed until he sat on it, making his presence known.

"Camilla," he started.

Just one word, one name, her name to be precise and chills went down her back, she wasn't going to give out her coverage yet, worse of it was that she heard his discussion with the doctor earlier.

"Camilla?" she repeated the name as if she has just heard some foreign name.

Ethan was contemplating whether or not she was faking it, but then, what she added shocked him when her light voice went out ever so lightly.

"I can't remember anything, I feel like my brain is filled with fog and..." she halted, making the information dig into the young man.

Adding it, she burst into tears to seal her fate.

Ethan's face was a pinched mirror of sadness.
