Susan, A new friend?

Chapter - 05

Eager for his interview, as soon as Alex walked inside the building, the ladies stopped in their tracks. They couldn't help but look a second time and steal glances of the stranger that just walked in. The men, on the other hand, couldn't help but throw venomous glares at the stranger, who in no time captivated almost every girl who laid eyes on him.

With that lean, not so muscular built and neatly combed hair, Alex gave that innocent and pure vibe which made the ladies want to devour and conquer him. They just wanted to have some fun with the young man.

Under countless devouring gazes, Alex walked up to the reception and lightly tapped the counter in front of the lady there, trying to get her attention.

"Excuse me," Alex called out to the receptionist. The receptionist was a fair-skinned lady, about the same age as Alex, blooming amply in the right areas. She was dressed in a white shirt and a formal black skirt. But what Alex noticed right away were the shades of black above her chest. Her boobs were so big that they were ready to tear that tight shirt of hers and experience true freedom.

"Yes..." hearing someone call out for her, when the receptionist looked away from her computer, she was spellbound to see a handsome stranger in front of her.

"Hello, I am Alex Rutherford, here for the job interview in the PR department," Alex told her, "Can you point me the direction I am supposed to head to?"

"..." The receptionist, on the other hand, did not seem to be listening. She was lost in her own thoughts pondering over something.

"Excuse me," Alex waved in front of her.

"..." There was still no reaction from her, but Alex could feel that she was just staring at him without paying any attention to his words.

Alex was at a loss for words over such blatant ignoring. He reached out for the receptionist and gently shook her.

"Aah!" The receptionist cried out in a high pitched tone, coming out of her thoughts.

"Sorry, you were saying?" The receptionist asked apologetically.

"I am here for the job interview in the PR department. Can you tell me where should I head to?" Alex asked again.

When those near the reception heard that Alex was here to apply to the PR department, some started jumping with joy, some looked jealous, some were regretting, and a very few were gnashing their teeth in anger.

"Aaa... the PR department? You see, the PR department is on the fourth floor," the receptionist said, "Take that elevator and ask someone when you reach the fourth floor. I am sure someone will let you know," the receptionist said, pointing towards the elevator used by the normal staff and guests in the company.

"Thank you," Alex nodded and turned around to leave.

"I..." the receptionist suddenly cried out from behind. Alex was surprised to hear the loud voice from behind and looked back at the receptionist.

The receptionist was embarrassed by how she suddenly lost control of her voice. Trying to hide her embarrassment, she murmured, "I... I can show you the way if you want to."

"There is no need for that," Alex said after taking a moment to consider.

The ladies, when heard Alex, snickered at the receptionist. If Alex had said yes, they would have been envious, but now that Alex had flatly refused her, the ladies won't leave this chance to humiliate her. That was the way of society, to hit someone when they are already at rock bottom.

"She is so desperate," someone among those present there said.

"She is young, but she is desperate for it. She is even going after those outside of the company," Someone else snickered.

"But can you blame her? Even I want to jump on this guy."

"But the vixen tried to jump the gun on us. Serves her right,"

"Humph! What's so great about him? I may be just a security guard, but I am way better looking than him," the security guard, when heard the women talk, couldn't stop himself from complaining. He was so angry with the attention this kid was getting that he wanted to beat someone badly. He stood at the same spot and watched the ladies as they walked past him in and out without giving him a second look, and here they are, those same women ogling over a kid.

"As if they will look at a mere security guard like you. You need to have a job like me to even think about dating someone here. The ladies in Theation have very high standards," The man hearing the security guard complain, said with arrogance.

The security guard looked at the man and murmured under his breath, "They might just pluck their eyes out instead of looking at your punctured face."

"Did you say something?"

"Not at all, sir... Not at all. You are absolutely right." Though he didn't want to, the security guard agreed to the man.

"Sorry, it was kind of rude of me. I shouldn't hav..." when the receptionist heard the murmurs, she wanted to bury her head somewhere to avoid the embarrassment. On top of that, she also involved the unknown guy with her.

"Instead," Alex interrupted the girl, "Why don't I treat you to a meal if I get the job? You are my first friend in the company," Alex asked with a smile. He thought of leaving after politely refusing the girl's help, but when he heard how the others were shamelessly ridiculing her, he had to come for her rescue. So he thought of this way to get her out of this awkward situation, "I can call you a friend, right?"

The receptionist was left stunned, and it took her some time to register the words in her head. The same was for the other ladies. They couldn't understand why and how the situation turned out like this all of a sudden. Such a good looking guy will treat her to a meal. The same question was revolving in their head, 'Why were they not brazen enough? If... only if they were the ones to offer him to show the way, they would have been the one to go on a dinner date with him.' They were now regretting mocking the girl earlier, now, they stood there enviously looking at her.

When Alex saw the receptionist stand there like a statue and not reply, he asked, "So is that a no?"

"No... no... no... no... I mean no, it's not a no," the receptionist was flabbergasted and confused, "It's just that are you sure about it?"

"Why wouldn't I be? Don't tell me you don't want to have a meal with this handsome guy. Now I feel somewhat offended." Alex said, joking.

"No, I didn't mean it that way. Well, if it's okay with you. Then, I will wait for the good news," the receptionist finally was at ease, and she agreed to Alex's proposition.

"You better," Alex said with confidence but suddenly remembered something, "Ohh no!"

"What is it?" The receptionist asked with a slight worry.

"We have been talking all this while, but I don't even know your name. I am Alex," Alex said, extending his hand for a handshake.

"Ohh! And here I thought it was something serious. I am Susan," the receptionist introduced herself, shaking hands with Alex.

"Nice to meet you. I better get going now, or you will miss the chance for a free treat," Alex bid his goodbye to Susan and left.

"All the best for the interview," Susan cheered for him from behind.

Alex just smiled, and without turning back, made his way to the elevator.

After Alex left, the ladies flocked around Susan to gossip about the handsome man who just left.

Alex got off on the fourth floor, and after asking around, he was taken to a large room where everyone else was waiting for the exam to start.

'This is it, no turning back now,' Alex tried to cheer himself up.
