1- rejection
“I, Alpha Kaden of the Regional Moon Pack reject you, Lucia as my mate and Luna of this pack.”
I watched as my boyfriend of three years rejected me upon finding out that I was his mate.
“Well I fucking accept your rejection. And fuck you, fuck all of you, I don’t need you losers” I yelled at the whole pack who did nothing but watch me get rejected.
I saw his eyes flicker a bit. He didn’t expect me to take his rejection easily. Good.
I was definitely not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me beg.
“Lucia,” My “best friend,” said in a horrid voice. She also expected me to beg.
“What!” I snapped back at her. “You all are dead to me.”
I could feel the tears drop and the pain from the rejection started to consume me, so I rushed out of there. There was no way I was going to give them that satisfaction.
I ran as fast as my leg could carry me, slamming the door shut, just in time before I collapsed from pain.
**
Three weeks earlier.
I always stayed in the pack house. I didn’t know my parents but that didn’t bother me. I was told that they abandoned me and the park found me, left alone to die.
If they had left me, there was no need to go looking for them.
I was given a home here and treated just like everyone else. Life was good.
I got ready to go to school when I received a text.
"You ready?” It was Kaden, my boyfriend of three years. He was also going to be the alpha of the pack in three weeks time.
“Yeah,” I texted back.
There was an extra skip to my steps when I came down the steps.
“Hey” I smiled greeting him
He smiled at me and I felt that familiar flutter in my stomach.
“Hey babe” he got down, opening the door for me. He stood, towering over me at my 5 ‘6 while was 6’ 4. “Sleep alright,” he said, looking at me with those piercing blue eyes.
“Like a baby” I smiled back.
We went to school
I walked through the familiar walls of the school, hooked on Kaden’s arms.
“babe” I called him, as we walked to our class for the day
“Yes?” he sounded unbothered but I was used to it by now. He did that when he was not comfortable around people.
“What do you think we should do when we get back from school?”
“I’ll be busy around then, I’ll come see you when I am through,” he said not even giving me the least bit of attention as he answered.
“I know your 18th is coming, but that doesn’t mean you should push me to the side”
“It’s mating season Laura, you know how it goes. Besides, you’re my mate. We’ll have enough time.” He reassured me before he went to his class.
I smiled at that. Alphas had the special ability to know who their mate was, weeks sometimes months before they turned eighteen.
It was kind of expected we would become mates since we already had a strong bond to begin with.
I was over the moon when I found out. I loved him, and finally, I was going to spend the rest of my life with him.
Classes passed by in a breeze and I was rushing out to meet Kaden in our usual spot, only to find out from his beta that he had gone.
I saw the look of pity he gave me, but I ignored it.
He must have had something come up, it was unusual for him to do something like that, so obviously, it was just an emergency or something.
I ended up walking back home, since Eric, his beta, had to stay for football practice and Samantha, my best friend, was staying for detention.
Hey, you just up and left.” I texted him.
No reply. I tried not to get mad but with each step I took in cold Unapologetic weather made me want to rip his heart.
You should have at least told me” I texted him again. He read it this time, but did not reply.
I got to the pack house ten minutes later almost with a frost bite on my fingers to find Kaden warmly dressed training pack warriors. Or at least that’s what it looked like from where I was standing.
“You are an asshole!” I said walking up to him and taking the attention of everyone that was out in the open.
“You left me, you know, a little text would have been nice,” I said all up in his face
“We’ll talk about this later,” he said in a low irritated voice.
“No, I want to talk about it now” I was pissed, screw that, I was beyond pissed.
He moved towards me and then bent a little to be able to reach my height. “You’re embarrassing yourself right now, so, why don’t you just suck it up and wait till I have time for you.
I looked at him and then looked back to the people who were now focused on us, I felt myself blush at the situation and then walked up to my room.
I paced up and down the room. Waiting for nightfall.
Soon I got tired and slept it off, only waking up when Kaden walked Into my room.
“Kaden?” I groaned from my sleep. My body ached all over from sleeping on the floor.
“You still up?” he walked to me and brushed my hair to the side.
“Kinda,”
“Good,” he pulled me into a sitting position. “We need to talk.”
I nodded, clearing whatever sleep was left in my eyes.
“Sure, what’s up?” He looked like he just had a bath.
His hair was in a mess, but it still looked nice, like I could run my hair through it.
The soft glow of the moon reflected how toned his muscles were.
“I think we should give ourselves space, for now.”
My heart dropped to the pits of my stomach.
