I was going to suggest maybe Mara can feel Selena's aura because if the human side of her especially since it seems golden to her. But then she was impacted by Nate's aura too. Sylvianna said witches could sense werewolf auras but they weren't affected by them. It will be interesting to what else happens related to that.

Okay, don't know if this will sound weird but I love the fact that the scarred theme is appearing once more. Mara having these "imperfections" grounds her character and waves in front of our faces the "grotesque" and violent nature of what she can do (and yet can't remember!).
