    Oh my gosh! I loved this chapter! I mean, it's absolutely heartbreaking what he went through, but the dynamic between Cessi and Ashen.... the love and devotion between not just their younger selves, but now as well 🥰🥰🥰 And actually not just between Cessi and Ashen, but also between her family and Ashen. It seems like Kairen sending Ashen back to the Eastern Kingdom was because of more than just Cessi and Ashen getting caught together by her brother like we thought before. I think Kairen felt Ashen was ready to go back and take out his father and clean up his kingdom. I'm sure he also wanted Ashen to go before things got too serious between him and Cessi to help keep Cessi safe while Ashen was cleaning up the kingdom, but I think he also had faith in and believed in Ashen that he was ready and could do it, even if Ashen didn't believe in himself.

    First I am loving this book!!! I am thinking Jisel is Petra's daughter from a rape her brother forced her to endure.     Dang poor Ashen. I know that pain all to well, it's a shame we can't pick our parents. Growing up being rejected by one of the two people who should love you unconditionally makes it hard for you to trust anyone or to let people in. Until one day you muster up the strength to forgive them and move on with your life and you meet someone you don't mind letting in. I am glad he opened himself up to her and showed her a glimpse of his past it proves how much he loves her.

    So very, very insightful! Definitely a glimpse into Ashen’s deep hatred for the dead King, and although there is obviously more to the story, this tidbit is the foundation to his trauma. Having to face losing his mom and brother so young, I’m amazed he was still able to be open and vulnerable with Cessi and her family. Seems like the only real father figure he’s ever known was TWG, and even he sent him away, back to face the root of all his pain alone. I’m starting to understand Ashen’s character even more. Great chapter Jenny!
